Really great service here! It seems that almost all of the staff speaks English here pretty well, so if you can't speak Japanese, it shouldnt be a problem. The beds were comfortable too, and as long as you don't mind sharing a room with a few strangers, it's super cheap to stay here! Omotenashi was also super clean and new (just built this April it seems!) and has a really nice common area where there's even a kitchen and laundry machines for guests to use. The only downside is that there doesn't seem to be any convenience stores around until you get to the Miyajima port station, but that's only about a 10 minute train ride away. The hostel is located super close to the Jigozen electric railway station, which is also a few stops down from the Miyajima ferry port. This was super convenient because it was only a 10 minute ferry ride to one of the best tourist spots around! While staying here, I also went on a free tour offered to guests staying 2 or more nights at the hostel, and the guides were super helpful and nice! They even helped me out when I got into a bit of trouble without hesitation! Overall, really great place and would come here again if...

Going to Miyajima was by far the most magical experience of my Japan trip, and staying here really made it a lot more fun time. Fun atmosphere, laid back staff, everything clean and immaculate, and stylish decor. You can go and chill and drink in the main room with a ton of foreigners; I'm still in touch with a German guy I met today. I was surprised at how nice the bathrooms and showers were - how could they be this nice for so cheap?
Go and stay on the island itself if you can too, it's a really beautiful place. I wish I'd spent more time there. Omotenashi was great for me because I could take the train to Hiroshima for the memorial of the atomic bomb, which is a really moving and powerful event, and then go to the Kangen (I think) boat festival in the same week. You can also explore the nearby neighborhood; it has a small-town country feel to it, with rice paddy farms only a 15 min. walk from the hotel.
Takuno, who I think runs it, is a fun guy to talk to as well. He speaks some English from...
Read moreI stayed this hostel just before Christmas. It has everything a hostel would require along with excellent customer service. The staff there was nothing but friendly and helpful with reception open till midnight. They also assisted in helping lift luggage to our 4th floor room due to there being no lifts. The public kitchen and lounge was very well kept and clean with complimentary tea/ coffee and sauces. The room was spacious, tatami style rooms with fridge inside. Toilets were public and located on each floor. Shower was located on level 2. The female shower felt safe with pin code access. Free WIFI was available and like anywhere in Japan it was reliable. ||||Only downside was perhaps the location. It required a train transfer to get back to JR line. However, if you didn't mind walking it wasn't too far- but with full luggages this was a big harder.||||All in all, this was a clean and friendly place to stay with everything a good hostel...
