Kamogawa is a sea side town on the east coast of Japan, south of Narita, in the Minami-Boso region of Chiba Prefecture. |Kamogawa Sea World is a local tourist attraction, and is the best marine park I've been to. IMHO, it beats Sea World Orlando, and Underwater World in Sentosa, Singapore. Why? Because you can get really up close to the marine creatures.||The Kamogawa Sea World Hotel is right next to the Sea World. Go out the back exit of the Hotel, and you're in the Sea World. The Hotel has Japanese Style rooms -- tatami floors, no beds, and we sleep on futons laid on the floor. Buffet breakfast and buffet dinner are included in the per person price. I'm a vegetarian, and had limited options for dinner, but Japanese breakfasts are very vegetarian friendly. The rooms come with private Japanese shower-cum-baths, and toilets (with bidet function and seat warmers). There are also the common Japanese baths found in typical ryokans -- one for men and one for women.||We arrived by train at the Awa-Kamogawa JR station. The problem with this station is that it had not escalators or elevators, so if you're travelling with kids (strollers) and heavy baggage, be prepared to haul things up and down stairs. But once you exit the station, you can just give the hotel a call, and they will send a free shuttle bus to pick you up. The hotel is 5 minutes by the shuttle from the train station.||As is typical of Japanese service, service was excellent all round. When you come back from dinner, the futon beds are laid out for you.||Very highly recommended if you're looking for an authentic japanese experience. It's not quite a ryokan, but, certainly popular with...

Read moreStayed at this hotel for one night for a couple of reasons. It was close to our next destination Katsuura, but above all the package included a two day pass to Kamogawa Sea World with direct access from the hotel and a night tour to the Sea World. It was certainly an interesting tour to see the sleeping penguins and mammals in the night. The package dinner and breakfast were both buffet style in the basement restaurant. There were numerous dishes too many to try them all. I appreciated the sashimi which was of course very fresh but not luxurious and the numerous dishes of local vegetables. Our room was a tatami room on the ground floor with an ocean view. The room was spaceous enough for us two but with some shortcomings. The futon bed was not thick enough giving me a backache in the morning, The fridge was quite noisy and we couldn't turn the room temperature down as it was quite warm in the room. Also the bathroom is tiny even from Japanese standards. The amenities were quite basic. I wanted a razor but found they were only provided in the public bath. The public bath was quite good. The staff were all very helpful. ||My overall impression is that the hotel package is a bargain for Sea World lovers and those with...
