It has a 5 stars dinning experience but only a 3 star onsen experience unfortunately which is a bit disappointing for FuFu this brand as it emphasises so much on being a luxury hotel. Hotel staff speak limited English and their service overall was not that great compare to other Japanese onsen hotel. The room is nicely decorated and in a decent size. Mini bar is equipped with alcohol, water and tea. The welcoming canelé is delicious (probably better than the one I have tried in Bordeaux). One big problem for this FuFu is the lack of outdoor/ Punic bath. Even though every room is equipped with a bath tub type of onsen. It will still be better to have a public bath to allow guest enjoy the onsen in a bigger space. What surprise me is their food. The dinner is really a show stopper! Beautifully presented and also tasty as well. The food is managed by a Tokyo French restaurant called Plaiga. I would definitely like to visit it next time! We paid at a lower price due to its grand opening promotion. After this experience, I wouldn’t be happy enough to pay a full price as the whole experience is just not up to the standard. Overall it’s a good one but simply not worth the...
Read moreSuper disappointed with this “small luxury hotel”! Everything seems delicate and everyone seems attentive. But it’s totally not the case! We have mentioned several times in email that I’m allergic to beef and shellfish. And confirmed it again and again with the so called butler. To our surprise, they kept serving food with allergens in both of the two meals. I did ask before trying the onion soup if beef is used (since traditional recipe does include beef stock). The Japanese server confirmed with us there’s only onion and no beef. I started feeling unwell with just several spoons of the soup. Not until a Chinese server helped us to ask the kitchen, we had no idea if sickness was from the beef stock. So there’s REAL beef stock in the onion soup served to an allergic customer! CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY!!! The one night stay costs over 1000USD. And that’s what their customers deserve?! Never imagine this happens in a luxurious hotel in such a developed country....
Read moreStayed 2 nights at Fufu Karuizawa (Room 212, from 7 March to 9 March 2025), and it was truly one of the most relaxing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Having stayed at many hotels before, this was the first time I felt completely at ease, thanks to the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. Their hospitality was top-notch.
A special thank you to the waiter (the gentleman with medium-length hair, with face mask) who served us during dinner at Plaiga restaurant. He was exceptionally polite, took the time to explain every detail of our meal, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, we didn’t catch his name, but if you’re reading this—thank you, and I hope you’re having an amazing time working there!
Looking forward to visiting again. Highly...
