I feel like thereâs not enough international guests vloging/blogging about this hotel for me to understand how amazing it is until I came (so glad I felt adventurous and booked a hotel no influencer has ever told me about) I feel like I should explain how nice it is in details. Breakfast is at Heian-jingu event hall, their wedding venue, you get free taxi rides back and forth. The event hall has a floor glass window viewing Jinggu gardenâs most beautiful bridge which you actually cannot see while walking in Hei-an Jingu, because you will be on the bridge ( the other spot inside the gardens that you can view the bridge from is too far away from the bridge). Personally I believe the best view of the entire Heian Jingu gardens is from this event hall. This event hall is open to public for afternoon tea, but from what I can tell on their website itâs hard to reserve a spot. So you are guaranteed to a very VIP restaurant/view if you stay at this hotel. You get free tickets to see Heian-jingu, you can have a nice walk after breakfast and come back here to wait for your taxi back to the hotel. During booking, the hotel very honestly alert guests about the fact that it is an old building, so I was surprised by how new all the furnitures and amenities were. I wouldnât know itâs an old building if they didnât tell me. All the paper lanterns in the rooms are actually adjustable lamps. You can dim them to a dimness that I didnât think was possible. I wasnât too worried about the sound insulation (they alert you about it during booking) because they have only 3 rooms and no childrenâs amenities, so I thought âthere canât be much noiseâ. I was right. There wasnât any. Lady at breakfast found my portable hairbrush and returned it to me after I toured heian jingu. Gentleman at the hotelâs lobby thought of lending us umbrellas when we didnât even think of it. Lots of great examples of impeccable service. I worried a bit about whether it would be inconvenient to have breakfast in another location, but it was so smooth and a total pleasure. The people at the gate knew we were there for breakfast and took us exactly where we needed to go. I donât remember how I found this hotel, I think I just clicked around on google map in the Higashiyama area and thought âwhy does this hotel say itâs 3 stars? It looks 5 stars. â Now that Iâve stayed here I can safely say that it feels very 5 stars, the price point...

Read moreIâm still not quite sure how I originally came across this hotelâtheir website isnât the easiest to navigate, even with automatic translation. The hotel is split between two completely separate buildings in different parts of the city. We stayed in the Nene building, located right in the heart of Higashiyama. Itâs an old ryokan that has been converted into a hotel, with, I believe, only three rooms in this building.||Our room was surprisingly spacious by Japanese standards, featuring a large, modern bathroom with a bathtub that took me a good ten minutes to figure out. Despite the modern touches, the room still retains a traditional ryokan feel.||The location couldnât be better, with many temples just a short walk away. In the evenings, we especially enjoyed relaxing in the shared living room, where complimentary after-dinner drinks...
