We stayed here for 3 days at the end of December 2019 as a family of 4 adults.||My parents stayed in a bigger room while my brother and I stayed in a normal twin room.||The rooms come with Futon beds which are laid out for you on the Tatami.||||The service was very good and the front desk staff do speak English well enough to communicate with each other. The Ryokan hotel is very clean and comfortable. We were not able to go out to the Japanese garden as it was winter and thus closed but you have full view of it from the lobby area. The Onsen (and there are at least 3 onsens per gender) was very nice and comfortable (they open in the morning and after 4pm but not in between). Each Japanese hotel room also had its own toilet and bathtub which is also very comfortable. One suggestion for improvement is that the Futon should come with one more layer of cushion otherwise it’s quite hard for those not so used to the Japanese futons.||||Breakfast was a treat and the food was always very beautifully laid out. The Ryokan’s location is to the north-west of Kyoto. It’s not too accessible unless you have hired your own car (parking is free). There is also a mini-bus service that the Ryokan operates but we did not use it. There is a 7 Eleven about 1 minute’s drive away.||||One criticism is that the wifi in the Ryokan is not strong at all and you often get cut off. They should consider installing a better wifi system. I also think that the Wifi network is possibly funded partly by the government rather than by the Ryokan itself. They should certainly consider installing their own wifi system which cannot be that expensive.||||Dinner was quite expensive (about £45 equivalent) so we drove to the nearest station at Kita Oji which has a mall with several restaurants. If you want to take dinner at Ryokan Nenrinbo you’d need to tell the front desk 1 day in advance.||||For 3 nights, the standard room cost us HK$4500 while the bigger garden view room cost us HK$6700 for the bigger room (all inclusive...
Read moreWe booked through Agoda and stayed for two nights at Nenrinbo 4th-5th February. We booked one of the nicer rooms - Japanese style standard room compared to our other accomodation as a treat for the experience in Kyoto. The room was absolutely beautiful and incredibly clean. Rooms have tatami mats as the flooring and it's incredibly soft and comfortable to walk and sit on. It was winter during our stay and fortunately the room had heating. Alternatively there was a cupboard with more futons to use if you needed some more comfort, futons were surprisingly very comfy! They offer kyoto made biscuits representing the shingles of the traditional roofs and they tasted amazing, we bought a bunch from their little store to bring back home as souvenirs. Staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. If you book for meals they'll contact you when it's ready and take you to a room to enjoy the food. The room had a view of the garden and it was gorgeous and well maintained. They have a large and small onsen depending how busy it is with reasonable opening times, yukata and towels are provided in your room and there is soap available in the onsen (they welcome travellers and those with tattoos as long as you are respectful). We highly recommend this location if you're after a quieter area away from the city, wonderful service and an experience...
Read moreLiterally everything about this place has been absolutely amazing. We got the tatami floor room with a bath and a view. The room is huge, the bathtub is huge, and the futons are more comfortable than expected. The view is beautiful too! I go in and out a lot to smoke, so I like that the smoking section is close to the entrance. But every time I walk by the front desk I am greeted with nothing but happiness and smiles. I have felt sooooo welcome here. The private Onsen was super nice and clean too! The location is pretty far away from anything so be prepared to spend a lot on taxis. But I knew that coming here. I'm happy it's on the super outskirts of Kyoto. It's so quiet up here in the mountains compared to the center of the city. This was the perfect way to end our trip in Japan. There's also lots of temples within walking distance to see! They even held our luggage for us on the first day so we could explore. Then our luggage was waiting for us in the room when we walked in! The place has really good wifi too! It This was a...
