Staying at this hotel at the moment and have had such an amazing experience so far.
SERVICE I cannot express how much I appreciate the staff. They are so respectful and helpful, speak English and even helped me make a reservation at a restaurant. I also love it so much how we get a small bottle of water per person each day, it's just that little extra that makes me smile.
ROOMS We have a perfect room and the beds are good. We're a couple and decided to get two separate beds so we could have some good rest and it was totally worth it. The showers were also amazing (even had a massage shower option) and overall it was clean.
BREAKFAST I LOVE the breakfast here. There are so many options, Japanese & Western style. White rice, seaweed rice, noodles, fries, bread, yoghurt.. you name it. They even had takoyaki the other day!!
SPA They have a public bath and sauna. Although the sauna was with plastic chairs (and I'm used to having wooden benches in the Netherlands), the public bath was a true delight and really amazing to enjoy after a long day of walking. Do not: they are gender separated, but that shouldn't ruin any of the fun. It is perfect to unwind.
LOCATION We personally like the vibrant nightlife and would have preferred to stay closer to an area like Pontocho / somewhere near Gion. Regardless of that, the location is very central which makes it very convenient for traveling to wherever you need to go, so I'm very happy with our...
Read moreThis was the last hotel that was selected on our tour package for Japan. It was also the nicest! Even though the room was small, we loved the bathroom set up. The shower and toilet were separated with doors from the sink area. Everything seemed pretty new in our room. Loved that the tv had Youtube as an option to watch so we could watch some english language news. The free breakfast buffet was really good and I especially loved the unlimited matcha lattes! Wifi was very fast. This hotel also has it's own public bath, which is nice after a long day of touring the various shrines and temples.||||If you're worried about safety, only guests with the actual keycards can actually access the elevator. Just tap your keycard and it will call the elevator down and select the floor you are staying on. ||||The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Catching a cab to Kyoto Station was under 1200yen. Best to keep the hotel's business card on you and show to the cab driver to make it easier to get back.||||On my next trip to Kyoto (not on a tour), we will definitely use this...
Read moreThe room we were assigned had a faulty window which didn't seal properly and meant the air whistled in all day and night. Complained and maintenance agreed that this was a fault but said the hotel was full and all other available rooms we checked had the same fault. Therefore we both slept wearing noise cancelling headphones. The air vents by the window also suck a stream of constant cold air in. We were told we would be contacted about moving for our second night and/or be given a refund for our inconvenience. Neither happened. It's sad that this hotel has a known building fault and that customer service is poor as it is a decent compact, clean hotel otherwise. Breakfast has variety, the hot bath is nice after a day sightseeing and it's fairly convenient to a train station - though a few stops from the central area. However if you value sleeping in a warm and peaceful environment - avoid. The lack of sleep...
