Location: close to shrines and temples. They have a parking lot in case you choose to rent a car. There is a bus stop within a few minutes of walking distance.
Service: there is only 2 rooms at this hotel and only 3 tables at their first floor restaurant. The service is tailored to your needs. They are friendly, accommodating, great at offering tips on where to visit. Hikaru san pulled out 2 brochures and highlighted places to eat and visit for us on the map plus on google maps. She went beyond our expectations.
Rooms: Clean, spacious, 2 comfortable beds, bathroom and a living space with a desk and with an L-shaped sitting area.
Restaurant: we had breakfast and dinner included in our reservation. They are strict with their breakfast and dinner times. 8 am and 6:30 pm respectively. Since you’re one of the only two guests it is important to let them know ahead of time if you’ll be missing any of the meals. Also, the portions are on the bigger side. Food is flavorful, local Japanese ingredients influenced by French cuisine. The chef has his own vegetable garden. It doesn’t get better than this. Chef puts a lot of effort into the menu and it is a fantastic experience to opt for wine pairing. They are very generous with both so make sure to turn up to dinner hungry.
We stayed 3 nights, they received our luggage from our previous hotel then shipped it for us when we were ready depart. Hikaru san is very good at responding to any inquiries via email (I don’t have a Japanese phone number).
