Had an incredible experience here, it's been on my bucket list to stay at a traditional Ryokan and this establishment ticked every box. First and foremost, the service was beyond excellent! Our host was polite, courteous, and professional. The traditional rooms were a treat to stay in, I especially loved how comfy the tatami mats were (even to sleep on). My favorite experience though was food, I have never had such a delicious assortment of dishes, and the presentation was phenomenal! I usually don't eat much fish, but I tried everything and to be honest it was incredible, the only dish I had some trouble with was what I think was raw squid (still finished it though!). And finally, the personal bath we had with our room not only was set at the absolute perfect temperature, but combined with the view of the mountains surrounding the Ryokan was breathtaking! Also, the ambience from the river below was the cherry on top, I've never had a more relaxing bathing experience... (Plus the body wash soap they provided smelled so good I bought four bottles to take back home, it's fresh apple scented from local orchards!!!)
All in all this was exactly what I had been wanting from a traditional Ryokan experience, and if I have the opportunity I want to experience staying here in...
Read moreI stayed at Tokiwasure-no-Yado Yoshimoto for two nights in December 2023. Everything was impeccable - the service, the room, the onsen and the staff were all lovely. Much thought and care has gone into the elaborate, exquisitely plated kaiseki breakfasts and dinners and each room has all the comforts and amenities a luxury onsen getaway could ask for. Even better, this ryokan did not discriminate against me as a solo traveller and allowed me to stay in the main building in a spacious and luxurious room with its own private onsen. ||There is a separate area in each room with a private bath for changing, cosmetics and drying one’s hair which I found highly convenient and made good use of during my stay. The private onsen attached to my room was comfortable, overlooking the lush green forest and hillside where the ryokan is situated. I will definitely be stopping by Shima Onsen again and Tokiwasure no Yado Yoshimoto will be my...
Read moreFantastic experience! To spend a night in a rustic (albeit with some medernities like AC, fridge and so on) is a must when in Japan. The stay in Yoshimoto was a very pleasurable example of such a place. The room we stayed in was spacious and there was a wide selection of spirits and craft beer available for roomservice. They have a public onsen for each gender and a gender mixed that you can have for yourself (30min max). The former are split into both inside/outside, and the gender mixed is inside. We were here in late june, and while it was around 27c outside, it was still very nice to relax in the extremely hot onsen water. The highlight of the stay is the kaiseki dinner though. Chef Nakada Tetuyuki is a master at his craft! The staff is also very nice and accommodating. In summary, a very...
