We booked this hotel VERY early and have zero regrets about staying here. We stayed for a week for some backcountry ski touring with Evergreen (located just down the street). We had a one-bedroom two-bed plus living area room that was more than enough space for our gear. When we arrived in our rental car, the staff appeared immediately to help us get our bags inside. It had been raining hard and the snow was turning into treacherous slush. We had a filling breakfast every day, which alternated between western a (eggs, pancakes, sausage) and more traditional (mushrooms, salad, roasted salmon). The beds were firm and the pillows were plentiful and extra fluffy. The comforters were WARM. We turned the heat way down each night and never felt chilled. If I could give this place 5.5 stars I would because of the staff. We mostly spoke to Nick and Windy who had fantastic recommendations and clearly wanted to learn more from us about backcountry skiing so that they could better serve their guests. Nick called around and got restaurant reservations for us. This saved us tremendous amounts of time and headache, because the last thing you want to do after a day on the slopes is wander around looking for a restaurant who will take pity on you. Windy offered us some sake to try and was incredibly thoughtful about the challenging parking situation. A pond developed in the parking lot due to rain on top of snow and she was concerned we would get stuck; she let us park just barely into the entrance so we could be assured to get out safely. I would recommend this hotel again without hesitation. It's not cheap but the service is absolutely impeccable and my high standards were...
Read moreWe had a fabulous ski holiday staying at Ski Inn Hakuba in January. The ski-in ski-out location is unbeatable - walk out of the front door, put on your gear and you're on the slopes. Easy access to 2 beginner lifts and to the base of the gondola. At the end of the day you can literally ski back to the front door. It doesn't get much better than this! We loved the Tsugaike mountain with a good range of beginner to advanced slopes and a lot of on-mountain eating options for lunch. Our 'Superior' room at Ski Inn was very comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The bathroom is compact but met our needs. We appreciated the large sitting area and access to Netflix was very handy for family movie nights. Loved the coin operated laundry and the games room was great with soccer table and pool table providing hours of fun in the evenings. There are a lot of great eating options for dinner within short walking distance of Ski Inn and the staff were able to book restaurants for us to make sure our group of 10 could be accommodated. The staff were amazing and were always available and happy to assist with our needs. A big thank you to everyone and especially to Windy, Jenny and Peter for their help and support when our daughter fractured her wrist half way through the holiday. They dropped everything to pick us up from the slopes, take our gear so we wouldn't have to worry about it and drove us to the International Clinic at Happo where we received second to none medical attention. We were still able to thoroughly enjoy the rest of our holiday....
Read moreExcellent location which is just next to the slope of Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort. This is a true ski in ski out experience. That slope is especially great for first-timers.
Beautifully-designed two-room apartment. Spacious and clean. Giving me a relaxing and cozy evening after a whole day out on the slope. Reliable water supply and heat. All the electrical appliances in the Inn look new and updated. I feel safe, because the greatest concern I had for Hakuba is whether they have consistent warm water supply when I am taking shower and whether they have reliable heat system at night giving me good sleep. This Inn removed my worries. The inn also provides many communal spaces for guests to chill outside the room or apartment.
The drying room helps a lot. We didn't need to bring our gear back into the room. Guests also need to wear slippers inside the Inn. Without the gear dripping water and dirty shoes around, the inn is very clean.
Staff are friendly and hospitable. I have a lot of questions, but Windy was very patient to listen and gave me very helpful information.
Highly recommended for those who are going to Hakuba in a group with family and friends, need more than one bedroom but want to spend time together in your own living room. The kitchen also allows you to make...
