The perfect place for old men to hang out around 19-year-old foreigners. ANYONE can live there, keep that in mind. Old men in their 40s have no business being around freshmen students.
It takes ONE HOUR to get to Waseda University (don't be fooled by their website). Rapid trains do not stop at the station nearby.
The "large bath" is a tiny pool (for single use) that the old man fills out with hot water only on sundays (nobody uses that).
Only 6 showers total. The building has 5 floors and all showers are in the first floor (one shower is broken).
Only 2 sinks in the shower area, (one of them is broken). The broken sinks and showers are never repaired.
No female staff, only one old man. The 3rd floor is for "women only" but the old man that manages the place is constantly in that floor.
The place is usually dirty because the "cleaners" barely clean anything, basically, they just take out the trash bags.
Constant "events" happening because they need new photos to make ads and...
Read moreIt was my dorm during my 6 month exchange in Tokyo. I attended Waseda University, as many other students that lived there, together with students from Rikkyo, Sophia and Tokyo Universities. The dorm is a good place to know people during an exchange: you never feel alone and you can always have someone to talk to. The rooms are quite small, but in Tokyo that's the standard; in the end it's just a matter of getting used to them. The kitchen is common and it gets cleaned almost every day (as all the floors), however many times it was still quite dirty and some insects were present. The toilets are fine, but the lavatory room was unfortunately always dirty. The washing and drying machines are available, but they cost 100-200 yen for each wash and dry. The only very big problem was that the light in the shower room was out for almost three months and was finally repaired when I left Japan. In the end the dorm was fine, I have many memories...
Read moreI had a very good time at DK House Nerima. The rent for 4.5 months is very reasonable and the location is good. Its a 5 minutes walk from station Fujimidai which has direct trains and metros to Ikebukuro, Shibuya etc.
The rooms have everything you need, are spacious enough and clean. Its also very nice to have a good airconditioning.
The common spaces are nice and have entertainment such as a tv and books.
Shower rooms are shared but are cleaned daily so I had no issue with sharing at all. There are also toilets, washing machines and sinks on every floor.
Fujimidai is a really nice and quiet area with every store/place you need, I really loved it here.
I highly recommend DK House Nerima if you are an...
