I stayed at the Arabela Hotel for one night during an extended trip to Jordan. What began as a fairly normal experience quickly nosedive after I paid for my room. I arrived not long after landing in Amman. I was allowed to see my room and then, after the desk clerk demanded I pay first, was given a completely different room to the one I had been shown earlier. I requested to be changed to the one they showed me but the desk clerk refused, saying as I already paid there was nothing he could do. ||||To make matters worse, the door to my room could only be opened with a masterkey, which meant that each time I left the room I would later have to run to the front desk to get back in!||||During that first day in Amman, I was followed and harassed by a local man frequently trying to get me to go to different parts of the city with him. Later this man followed me while I was out for a walk and would even come to the hotel. The desk clerk gave him my number and he called all night long! He was constantly asking to take me to the souk, to see 'nightlife', etc. I told him to leave me alone. ||||The next day I decided to check out and while doing so, the same desk clerk from the day before pulls out a receipt with the local's number on it, hands it to a bellboy, instructing him to call. I could see on the receipt that the local man had paid 11 Jordanian Dinar for the hotel's 'service'. ||||I asked why they were calling him. He said the man wanted money from me. I told the desk clerk the man was harassing me to which he replied "so what?". I then told them I would call the police. The desk clerk then told the bellboy he had just instructed to call the local man to put the receipt away. I then left without any difficulties. ||||Given the unprofessional and dodgy behaviour of the staff, I would cannot recommend anyone stay at the Arabela. Hotels should be safe spaces for travellers not traps. I most certainly felt the Arabela was the latter. I have never had such a terrible and unsettling experience at any hotel I have ever stayed at.||||My time at the Arabela was a nightmare beginning to my im Jordan. Thankfully, I did not let it spoil my time there and went on to have an exceptionAL trip. You can too by avoiding places like Arabela by doing your due diligence before...

Read moreI stayed in this place for a few days. It had its pluses and its very bad negatives. |The staff is mostly the best thing going on for the place; friendly and very helpful.||The rates were ok considering a bed and breakfast and not a 4 Star hotel. The box TV they had never even worked, the rooms were tidy but not clean clean. The location is a good one if you are in Amman to get things done. Really close to the main street. ||The bathroom is really tiny especially the shower and this is not coming from a giant i'm only 6 ft tall. This leads to the hot water issue... it's not gonna happen. ||There is also the issue of room cleaning, they would skip that some times and I had to call and ask for fresh towels. ||It is worth mentioning that till this moment there is no lounge/bar/restaurant in the hotel, the staff however were talking about the work going in the 6th floor remodeling one. ||If your ok with all above, then you may...
