If you want a cheap room in what was once a great hotel in the center of new Astana, this place could work for you. It is my second stay and not much has changed from last year. This trip I booked three rooms for my group. When we arrived, one of the three room's AC did not work. And none of the rooms had acceptable wifi service even after repeated calls to management and several attempts to bring things up. Other parts of the hotel had acceptable wifi so it was not a general issue. But no attempt was made by management to solve this issue for us. I had a hotspot mifi so I decided not to bother pushing for a new room with better wifi but others might not be so flexible. The breakfast buffet was not very good and the coffee machine might have been acceptable for home use but certainly not for a busy hotel. I had to wait 10 minutes to get my first latte... and I could not finish my breakfast..... but at least they did have the minimum and I did eventually get a couple decent coffees in. Overall the hotel is in great disrepair. Everything looks old and shabby. The bathroom shower was a disaster with a crappy plastic shower curtain that fell with the weight of a wet towel over it, and the caulking was amateurish to say the least (see photo). That said, the rooms were all decently large with some new furniture. The mattress was new (but too hard for my liking) and things appeared to be clean. And although they put us on the lowest floor available (rather than new the top) the view of the city was decent. There appear to be some major renovations going on to the lobby cafe and bar which were not available for our stay. In other words, this isnt a terrible place for the money. I keep coming back as it is tried and true although I may explore other options next time.

I recently stayed at the Diplomat Hotel in Astana, and overall, my experience was positive, though there are a few areas for improvement. The location of the hotel is excellent, conveniently situated near key landmarks, making it easy to explore the city. The staff was one of the highlights of my stay—everyone was professional, welcoming, and eager to assist with any requests. Whether it was at the front desk or housekeeping, the level of service was truly commendable. The room itself was spacious and well-furnished, providing a comfortable environment. However, one issue that affected my experience was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. It seemed to persist despite ventilation, which was a bit disappointing. A stronger focus on maintenance and deep cleaning in this area would improve the overall comfort. Regarding breakfast, the hotel offers a buffet with a decent selection of dishes. However, I felt that it could be more varied and enriched with fresh, high-quality options. Adding more international and local specialties, as well as improving the freshness of certain items, would enhance the dining experience. Despite these minor setbacks, my stay at Diplomat Hotel was pleasant due to the helpful and attentive team. With small improvements in bathroom upkeep and the breakfast offering, the hotel could elevate its guest experience even further. Would I stay here again? Yes, mainly for the excellent service and convenient location. However, I hope they take these improvement areas into consideration for an even better experience in the future.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days, and the experience was absolutely wonderful! The room was cozy and minimalist, with a beautiful view of the Baiterek monument. Breakfast was included and featured a very diverse buffet, which my family thoroughly enjoyed. The morning coffee and BlackBeah was really good. There is a currency exchange at the entrance, which I found very convenient. I would like to especially highlight the administrator, Maryam - a true professional! She was incredibly welcoming, responsive, and always ready to help. Thanks to her attentiveness and care, all the issues were resolved Instantly (SIM cards, transport passes, deliveries, etc.), and I truly felt like a valued guest. There was one minor misunderstanding caused by myself and Booking (the breakfast times were not initially provided on the website, but this info was later updated). I hope this incident didn’t cause any inconvenience for the reception team. Overall, the atmosphere at the hotel was calm and relaxing. For a first visit to Kazakhstan’s capital, I highly recommend it! The hotel is within walking distance of many sightseeing.

Receptionists looks overbooked and tired. Not providing the relevant information, when I wanted to have a dinner in the restaurant in the hotel she said that it will be working only after 12:00 am, I said that it’s seems very strange, but she confirmed to me again. After I booked a restaurant outside and came down I saw a manger from the restaurant, whom I met earlier on the lunch that day and she said that the restaurant in the hotel was working. I also have asked to provide the charger, asked to make a cleaning and have ordered a taxi ASAP. Charger was not provided. I was waiting for a taxi for almost 40 minutes and still nobody came, receptionist was ordering the taxi from a no name company, I came down connected my other phone, downloaded the application, registered and ordered a taxi by myself, taxi came after 3 minutes ! When I came back after few hours after my dinner outside I was sure the room is cleaned, but what I have sen that nothing is done. She said that she have discovered that the cleaning is not possible at that time when i already left, and she didn’t informed me, but my phone number was provided in the check in form. Looks like reception is not interested in comfort and high service for the guests. Btw her name is Damira. Maybe you should hire additional staff and someone who is more welcoming and more client orientated. Very bad experience. However the restaurant is nice and manager Malika is very welcoming and has provided own charger when I had a lunch there, going beyond and making the best what is possible...
