Liepu Hostel — Hotel in Liepaja

Stayed for a few nights around Christmas, the main positive thing is I got a 2 bed room on the top floor to myself although I had booked a bed in a 3 bed dormitory. The room was simply furnished but still fairly pleasant, with two wardrobes, two desks and a refrigerator. The temperature in the room was warmer than in the corridors and shared spaces, where it often felt a bit chilly.

This is a cheap accomodation but not very well maintained - apparently you need to keep your own supply of soap and toilet paper because they didn't provide any in the bathrooms. The common showering rooms didn't look very inviting, but were OK to use since the water was warm enough. There seems to be two shared kitchens on each floor, not very clean though and scarcely equipped.

Luckily there is a grocery store right next to the hostel building. Location is quite good, walking distance from the city center. As hostel guest you get an electronic tag to open the entrance door so you can come and go...

I stayed at Liepu Hostel for almost two years, on the second floor, where most Asian students end up. The experience was extremely disappointing. Many of the rooms are in horrible condition — some haven’t been renovated since 2010. The facilities are dirty, outdated, and uncomfortable to live in.

While the administrator pretends to listen to your concerns, in reality, they only care about collecting the monthly rent. Nothing ever gets fixed properly, no matter how many times you report an issue. Most students stay here not by choice, but because there are very few other affordable options available.

Overall, I would not recommend Liepu Hostel to anyone unless there are absolutely no alternatives. It’s a place that seriously needs renovation, better management, and respect for...

You are 20 mins from the beach and 10 mins from the lake. 1 min from the shop. All is fine on this side. Concerning the luggage room, there is none. So the information on booking.com is wrong! Also, the bed is really really comfortable! And I think I have been lucky, I was in a room with only 3 beds. It was really cosy. The hostel is really spacious. Just one strange things, the showers are collective 🙏😂 . If you are at ease with your body it's good for you !! (Not collective, but no door...)
