Medan Hotel Sibu (Medan Mall) — Hotel in Borneo

The staff could be more courteous, I made the reservation about 2 days before, arrive at the Hotel around noon and just trying my luck to check in, but was told off by the staff that the Check In time is at 2pm. Traveling long distance and with small kids can be "hectic" the kids are restless after long journey, the way the reception telling me the check in time could be better. I just don t want to make fuss out of it. The staff are seen smoking at the main entrance which is a big no-no. ||||The Room||The room with two Queen size bed are are small. The fixtures & furniture are very limited and the room looks and feel BARE. The room I could say well maintain but can be better. The coffee and Tea facilities are just one each. A little disappointing. The bath room are clean enough. The bed are on the hard side, The pillow are just too soft. The TV program are good. The aircond are cold enough. ||||The breakfast||Appreciate the break fast even it is a simple breakfast. The menu can be better. That morning the menu is Nasi Lemak with it condiments, Plain porridge with condiment. Hard boil and half boil eggs, fried kueh tiew. No one to take the break fast coupon, any one could just walk in. For the price we pay it worth the stay. Parking are easily available and there is guards on duty. The area a little bit secluded, but the plus point the Hotel is located behind the Medan Mall. ||||Over all||Satisfied with the stay. All the rooms at level 4 had low maintenance since after we complained and ask to change the room, we also check through all the rooms at level 4 for better environment. Then we figured out that there was a lot of small cockroaches in bathroom, floor and even under the bed and behind the curtain. Besides, the employees also said these was the fault of us as we bring back outside food and cause this incident occur. But how can you explained there were a lot of cockroaches in other rooms? Is that our fault? We spent money to enjoy the environment and services. However, I was really disappointed for the services that the management department provided to us. In the same time, the employees said the bad words in front of us with their languages that we don’t understand. From this situation, they really didn’t admit the mistake or even do any apologies to us. The current experience is really worse compare to the past 2 year experience that I stayed in this hotel. I hope the Hotel Manager can focus on recent incident ( Cleanliness of the room especially Level 4 & the employees’ attitudes）PLEASE DO THE IMPROVEMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Since we know about this hotel, we always stay here whenever come to Sibu. ||Location: more suitable for the visitor who have their own vehicle. Quite far from city, the hotel surrounding have one mall and many small shop which most of it not open..only need half day to finish the trip around there.||Price: the price is reasonable for budget hotel. ||Cleanliness: depand..sometime clean and sometime not. ||Staff: Quite friendly, even sometime do met serious face and not even look at guest face when talking.||WIFI: for those who need hotel wifi, don't put your hope too high in this hotel, especially during night hour. At first I thought the server is down, so i call counter and they give me a new voucher. But, I couldn't even get to enter the voucher number. Its totally not connected. Its happen many time during my stay, at the same hour till morning. Very disappointed.
