HONG FU SEAFOOD SDN. BHD. — Restaurant in Sarawak

This place is huge. It's like several shoplots in size and it's got an upper floor. I'd think it's really popular with the locals even though the signboard is quite discreet. I guess if you know, you know. A minor complaint is the service. Because the place is so huge, it's pretty difficult to get the attention of the workers. And to order, we were told to refer to their Facebook page - which is a real hassle if you're not tech savvy. Nevertheless, I look around and local Sibu customers of the older generation seem to handle the ordering very well.

The menu shows this restaurant serves superior "upper class" dishes. We ordered clam soup, udang galah and pork knuckle (big portion!), which was really tasty. Be warned - it's pricey.

If you wish to dine in comfort, reach there at 6pm so that you can take your time to order. The lady who takes the orders may not be very helpful to recommend dishes.

So in the end, even though the food is good, the entire experience was not pleasant because of the inconvenience...

Food was tasty BUT (1) we had gone there wanting crab but they didn't have any (2) the place is too warm (3) the Indonesian male waiter spilled hot soup on my handbag & just gave me a few tissues after many long minutes to clean it myself! I asked for a cloth but he totally ignored me! I tried to tell the waitress who had taken our order but she quickly avoided me! Finally I told another waitress who nicely said sorry & said she couldn't give me a cloth as they were all dirty but all she could do was give me some tissues (4) Then we discovered a cockroach in our soup. At least they took it back & didn't charge us for it. Overall it was NOT an enjoyable meal at all! I am NOT likely going to go...

The guy with a silver chain necklace who took our order was Very rude. Our table couldn’t understand mandarin and we told him our mandarin isn’t good but instead of trying another language (Malay) he kept rolling his eyes at us and forcebly kept trying to take our order in mandarin. I came to this restaurant with my international friend’s knowing this place has good food. We had good expectations of this place, instead we were greated with the owner staring at my friends. Just because this place has good business doesn’t mean you get to treat a customer like that. Other than that, Food was good and reasonable. 1kg crab was 41 ringgit,...
