New Dawn Hotel, Pontian, Johore. — Hotel in Johor

Overall a pleasant and comfortable experience for us for our 2 nights stay, the desk clerk is polite and helpful. Our room 216 is quite spacious, generally clean, noise poluttion is quite low for us, there's free instant coffee at the lobby, free hot and cold water refill stations, rain shower in our room, small TV, we didn't expect they also provide toiletry.

The location itself is quite decent as able to access to most point of interest in all direction via car.

Plenty of parking space, if you are a lorry driver or bus driver who plan to stay a night here, this is a good motel for you.

And of cause, we love the rain shower, water heater have decent heat as well as the water pressure from rain shower is good.

Direct Malay western fusion food access at next door of the motel. (there's lot of flies in the restaurant thou which made our experience at this restaurant uncomfortable. Please note the restaurant is not related to this motel. )

The motel also next to Econsave groceries should you want to buy some food & drinks for sunset picnic by the Pontian Shoal.

Defenitely value for money. Will recommend any 1 who have a short vacation to potian region or travel for business purposes to stay here.

Things that need some improvement to make it 5star;

Lobby door bell not functioning (we waited at the outside of locked lobby upon our arrival for quite some time, we tried to press door bell a few times but it's not functioning until some one open the door for us. (recommended to keep their official mobile phone number, so you can call them if this happen to you to open the door)

The room a/c is cold but I think you definitely have to do regular servicing such as washing the filter net, the red warning light is on.

The bed head is filled with dust, we always travel with a cleaning cloth, so we cleaned it ourself

The water jug is filled with dust

The sitting chair knuk and cranny area is filled with dust as well, we cleaned it ourself

The pillow is quite low and too soft for us.

(note: the reason we clean the dust ourself is because we are quite particular or you may call it "OCD" on this matter and for this price range, we don't want trouble your...

This is our second time staying here and it felt like they did a slight spruce up since 2 years ago.

It is a basic hotel so no fancy expectations here plus it's clean and pretty centrally located in Pontian. Beds and pillows are comfy. There is a Muslim joint downstairs next to the hotel, and along the road there are small stalls with snacks.

The hotel is pretty environmentally-friendly - if u need water there is a water cooler on every floor and if u need a coffee fix there are 3-in-1 sachets at the reception level where paper cups and stirrers are provided along with hot water.

The only gripe we have - the bathroom ...would be great if a partition could be built between the toilet and the shower area with more clothes hanging hooks.

Other than that this is a really good place for a short stay...thank you Awien for helping us with our last...

Its easy to spot this hotel as it just beside Econ-save supermarket along the main road. stayed in the family suite room, basic room that comes with a sofa-bed and a 32' TV and a small toilet attached to it @ the side. there are no restaurant or bar in this small hotel but it have a welcoming corner coffee/tea making machine and free biscuits station located near the entrance @ level one.||they have no carpark, one have to park outside the hotel @ your own risk and remember to put parking coupons. The receptionist was very friendly and the hotel is locked from inside. one have to tap the card key to enter or press door-bell for the receptionist to open the hotel's main door. btw, there are no lift in this hotel. but it do comes with...
