This particular place is located in the "happening" entertainment belt along the coast, as claimed by the manager/owner. There are plenty of food opportunities, for many different cuisines. We drove more than 2 hours out of the way to get here but the experience was underwhelming at best in this establishment.
The food was pretty average, ingredients were ok, but the veggies we ordered were kind of fiberous, just happen to be our luck that day, I guess. Service was prompt but the negative experience was the manager/owner that was taking orders. Very very pushy for the big ticket items and upselling to ever pricier items, even after we specifically indicated we were not interested. For context, most seafood places would help curate the orders for the best possible experience as per every unique table, but this dude gave me the impression that he just wanted to see sales above all else. Instead of giving good advice in regards to portion control and spread, this dude kept pushing for us to order more. So we ended up with 4 people tackling 7 dishes and he was still pushing for more. We decided to fall back on experience of a max 2 dishes per headcount. Gave me the impression that it was all a money grab. He also seemed to have upgraded some dishes to the biggest possible without first telling us. All said and done, we managed to consume all, but as you can imagine, we were stuffed to the eyeballs. Plastered with a $700+ ringgit bill. Don't get me wrong, I would pay for good food, no issues, but when you get so stuffed and didn't really feel taken care of, it is hard to have a good impression.
So my observation would be that this establishment has ok quality food, but it is very much a buyers beware market. Order what you want and likely be very wary of recommendations from the ordering staff... They unfortunately do not seem to be interested in your experience, you have to take of that yourself. Just be prudent and order more as you go... There are also plenty of eateries that you can explore along...
Read moreI first came here back in mar 2019.
Was back here again for anniversary w gf. We wanted to see the sunset in the horizon while having dinner. And was served by a pleasant bespectacled uncle. Not sure if it’s he knew we are not locals. Recommended the salted yoke crab and fish. Rm180 per kg for crab, and 140rm for grouper.
The prices quoted were subconsciously a concern for both of us. Not sure if it was the season, or we were visitors in town. But decided to go ahead.
Decided against 2x700g or so crabs, and asked for a slightly bigger crab at around 800g. Added a veg dish, 2 sour plum drinks and 2 rice.
The crab and fish are fresh. Taste wise, better than I get in sg. Crab was fresh and so the shell weren’t too tough to crack with my teeth.
Final bill was rm271.80 plus 7 for drinks. 130rm for crab,...
Read moreTaste was decent but a rip off considered the cost of a live fish is minimum MYR $220/kg which are much more expensive than price in Singapore. Kinda defeat the purpose Singaporean dining in Malaysia. When I was selecting a fish, the scale was located inside the kitchen so I can only believe what they told me and true weight will never revealed. Avoid this place. If you must eat here, order the dishes in the menu with price stated. Seafood price are forever stated as "market price". The food are bill under Ngew Kim Hock Seafood and drinks are billed under Zu Qiu Seafood corner. Review receipts below and judge for yourself. Cost MYR $540 for 4 adults and 2 children. This restaurant has gave me a bad rap in Pontian. I will never return ever!
Satay in this...
