Room is big, bed and pillow is comfortable enough to have a good night sleep.
Be mindful from Basement parking to Ground Lobby there's only stairs. If you have an elderly person, dropped them at lobby main entrance first.
When we checked in, the toilet seat cover was loose, called Reception, they send maintenance guy instantly to replace the toilet seat cover. Service was fast. When we showered, the drainage blocked and the toilet flooded. I just dont have the energy to change room anymore cause were only here 1 night.
1 of the lift button (going down) from Level 3 lift area didnt function, we waited quite awhile didnt notice it was not functioning. That's a laugh.
Had dinner at Real Taste Restaurant at hotel lobby. Service was fast and attentive. I ordered Lamb Kofta & my mom got the Lamb shank. We also ordered wild mushroom soup & beef satay to taste. My lamb kofta was decent (chewable lamb but consumable). However my mom's lamb shank was very hard to even cut and eat (she's 73 years old, she doesnt have a tight bite - so we cant eat more than 80% of it). My mom than move to the beef satay (which is also hard and chewable - but since were so hungry after long drive from KL, we just close our eyes and eat it). Then we move to the wild mushroom soup - in the menu they present with 2 breadstick but when we receive it, there's only 1 breadstick. I asked the waiter and he said the other breadstick is in the form of croutons inside the soup. Weirdly enough I know how to differentiate croutons and breadstick - but whatever float their boat I guess. And the wild mushroom soup is SALTY. Drinks juice was decent.
For the lamb that cost RM78-88 it was way not worth it. I dont recommend. Lamb shank should be easily tear apart from the bone. Dont serve hard old lamb with that costing. Raised the issue to waiter, he reach out to female supervisor and say only can provide complimentary cake. The level of compensation of a cake is not on par with RM78-88 per lamb dish (we ordered 2), the salty wild mushroom soup & hard chewable beef satay. Again its only for 1 night, I dont want to make any fuss, but do better for your own improvements. Go attend some hospitality training class to improve better on accomodating customer. Some times, small acts will go far. Hotel kat Kedah ni tak banyak pun, words travel around boleh sampai AS/Tanjung. So be better.
As a hotel guest, we got 20% discount complimentary. So its ok. And Ice cream is good btw.
Its such a shame, I see so many potential as the lobby has high ceiling with chandeliers very welcoming. Service is fast. But the experience we had made us not want...
Read moreThere is a lot to love about the Purest Hotel in Sungai Petani starting with the room decor. It reminded me of the style of many small boutique hotels I have stayed at in Northern Italy over the years. Simple stylish and elegant would sum it up. The breakfast spread here again ranks with some of the best I have experienced at any South East Asian Hotel. Catering no for both Western and Asian taste it offers a good selection to both. I ate a very satisfactory lunch in the restaurant on the ground floor on one day, which again was good quality. Vegetables that accompanied the dish were nicely presented on the plate and mercifully al dente, a feat that many hotels worldwide fail. Where it is let down: The marble bathroom floor, whilst stylish, is a virtual deathtrap when wet as it becomes dangerously slippy. This is as mentioned in previous reviews and could be solved with the simple addition of a rubber floor mat. Being a supposed 4 star hotel and given it has a swimming pool I would have expected bathrobes, but there were none. When I enquired I was told they were available at the pool, they were not. When I enquired at reception no one seemed to have a clue as to wheter they had them or not. I was eventually told they did not provide them. This, despite me having seen the same in the housekeeping laundry basket. The pool area is a bit of a mess with stacked chairs here and there and no staff until 4pm. In the meantime it's seems to be used by hotel staff wanting to have a smoke. The pool itself, whilst great, is missing a number of tiles which looks a bit shabby for a 4 star. Note to management, some umbrellas by the sun loungers would be great for shade in the scorching rooftop sunshine. Lastly, I ordered room service on one evening and it was delivered without cutlery or condiments to begin. The food itself, a chicken burger, completely tasteless so a disappointment. As I said to begin with a few well placed tweaks and this Hotel could be wonderful and warrent the claimed 4 stars. Would I stay again and would I recommend it?...
Read moreAn unexpected, not hidden, gem in Sungai Petani!
First of all, the hotel is realllyyyy well-located. It can be easily accessed as it is near to the main roads and highways, and the places around it will provide you with pretty much everything you will ever need. Places to eat? So many local and franchised restaurants right around the corner. Coffee places? Purest have them in all directions. Convenience stores, pharmacies, and supermarkets? They are well within your walking distance, literally.
Personally, what amazed me the most were the ones I found within the hotel itself. They serve so many types of local foods with authentic Kedahan flavours (ones you will not get in other states). In fact, they usually come up with their own recipes for many of their meals. You will definitely enjoy their Ayam Masak Lemak Cili Api and Cucur Udang, and if you are more into something “western”, they also serve delicious Beef Burgers with their homemade patty. And as a coffee lover myself, I truly enjoyed their Vanilla Latte and Macchiato.
Facility wise, they are not lacking either. Their rooms are bigger than I expected from a hotel of their caliber (seriously, I thought my room was going to be smaller). Their training / event rooms are even more spacious and generous. If you are looking for a place to hold an event or a training course with an affordable price, they have it. They also have a rooftop swimming pool with their own restaurant, if you ever feel like relaxing while sunbathing or moon viewing (the view is nice during the night too).
Lastly, the pièce de résistance, is their hospitality. At Purest, you will feel like you are part of a local community. You get to experience humility and selflessness - a norm in their society (I am not exaggerating), and you get to have one of the best human connections ever. Purest employees welcomed me with kindness, carefulness, and warmth, so much so that my busy 4 days 3 nights felt like a fleeting dream.
I will definitely...
