Overstepped Cafe Sejati — Restaurant in Kedah

Our past great experience made us return for another meal, but this time it the meals was not as good.

We’re surprised to see the gravy have been put on the rib eye (banjir) and not being put aside making the steak so soggy. The gravy was not just on the steak but also on the veggies. Yuck. Told the waiter about it and they said gravy curah on top of the steak is their signature, and if nak serve separately then need to inform. Doesn’t make any sense to me as the cafe need to understand that they are the one who display in the menu (as per photo) that the sauce is served separately, and there is no notice in the menu saying that the customer need to request if want otherwise.

Ordered a lamb shoulder with mongolian sauce, but the cafe wrongly served the lamb with black pepper sauce (poured on top of the lamb like banjir again!). We informed the cafe about the mistake and specifically mention for them to confirm if they are going to replace with a new lamb or just scrap the blackpepper sauce and pour the new sauce on top. The waitress mentioned that they are going to replace the lamb with a newly cooked…. But they didn’t do it and didn’t say anything about it! How do we know it was the old cooked lamb? Cause they returned the plate just 3 mins after, and the taste of the lamb with the scrapped black pepper sauce + mongolian sauce have totally ruined the overall taste. IF dari awal the cafe told us that they’re unable to cook a new meal, then we will just ask for the mongolian sauce to be served separately.

The service at first seems friendly and welcoming, but since they were not being transparent , I guess it ruined the whole experience hence I’m only giving two star.

Really disappointed with the overall experience, the money spent doesn’t seem worth it as the price is really on a high side. Kalau sedap, takpe. Crossing this cafe out of our fave list.

P.s. i have already given my feedback verbally to the cafe while making payment, yet no apologies from the cafe at all.

I heard that their new branch in Perdana Heights branch is much better, so maybe you should try at that...

Quaint restaurant. From what I have been informed, the decoration changes from time to time. In December it will be Christmas-like and when I went, there are Chinese New Year decorations here and there.

The ambient here is nice and cosy. The decoration is very nice. There are plenty of tables. If I were to nitpick, the only a bit downside that I found is that there are only one toilet available.

For the food, what i ordered is a Chicken Parmigiana and Hazelnut Latte. For the food, I found it to be not to my liking but my friend (who ordered the same dish as mine) said it was good. But I highly recommend their Blackpepper Grilled Chicken. The taste is awesome.

There are also unique drinks called the Princesses (if im not mistaken). We ordered a Pocahontas and what came up is a mug of chocolate drinks with Cocoa Crunch, Popcorn, Whipped Cream and may others.

There are also member card which we can get many benefits such as 10% discount from 5pm onwards...

I am writing this based on the bad experience we had with one of your waiting staff named Ain. We have made a reservation for 5 person and being made unaware that one of my acquaintances is bringing his partner to join us for dinner. Unbeknownst to us, the waitress Ain rudely raises her voice at us in front of other customers telling us off for bringing an extra person at the last minute without prior notice. We are also made unaware that the table we are sitting in only accommodates 5 person until she rudely told us off. She then walks away making rude gestures with her face and her head. This is very embarrassing for us as a paying customer getting belittled in front of other patrons. This is very unprofessional of her to treat someone who is paying to eat at this restaurant. Obviously if we were made aware beforehand that an additional family member would come, we would have adjusted our reservation, despite that Ain should have handled it...
