Ants in the bed!
We had such a miserable experience, we just left and found another (cleaner and cheaper) hotel. Do not stay here.
When we checked in (3pm), we asked for a crib for our baby, and that said they'd send one up. We quickly dropped off our bags and noticed was that our old and outdated non-smoking room smelled very smoky. We tried to ask the front desk about the local minibuses and they were completely unhelpful. We finally asked which direction was the bus terminal (which was just 600 m away) and they said it was too far to walk to and that we'd have to take a taxi. We left to do some sight seeing and didn't return until 7pm. Still no crib. We asked again about the crib, and again they said they'd send one up. We then found that the bed was covered in ants! They looked like the kind that bite. Both in between the sheets and around the side of the bed. So gross. They then called and said that they only had one crib for the whole hotel and someone else was already using it. We asked for a different room (because of the ants) and they said they could only switch our room if we paid more money. Unbelievable. We decided to just check out right then and find a different hotel. An hour later they had the audacity to call us not to apologize or anything, but to say I had to come back and pay the tourist tax because we stayed at the hotel, despite the fact that we paid the tax for that night at our new hotel.
There are new hotels in Labuan twice as nice for half the price. There's no reason to stay at AIFA. Why does it...
Read moreWhen I booked thru Agoda, I choose Junior Suite with Sea view. However after check-in I was given City view. I asked the Hotel and they reply it is Agoda fault for the wrong info in their website. Then I called Agoda which informed that they merely published whatever info they got from the hotel. Hotel blamed Agoda, Agoda blamed the hotel! Nice. So no one at fault but me. Later the Hotel rep came to my room and informed they had actually change the related info but not updated by Agoda. Still maintaining their innocent. No sorry. And promise to come back to me and "see what can he about this" (verbatim). Waited until the next day that guy never show his face again. Agoda at least apologised for the problem and gave me USD7 gift card. The Hotel Aifa? Not only so proud to even say sorry, they blamed other party (Agoda), and they broken promise also. A great formula to be a great hotel. No wonder the first review I read about this hotel wasn't that nice: "Don't go there, their staff stealing iphone and cash!". I don't know how true is the claim, and I don't mean they are all bad. From this experience, they just failed to observe simple courtesy. The hotel facilities and all are good and in acceptable...
Read moreI hopped on a plane to Labuan as I had never been to this place. I was fortunate to book into Hotel Aifa, a great 4 star hotel near to many ammendities. Checking in was pleasantly done by a very young receptionist who also helped to change my room when i encountered issue with the safe deposit box located in the room.
The room was spacious and well lit. The bed was firmed and bedding items had fresh smell, which made my stay rather pleasant. Only issue with their room is the noise penetration both from the street and other guests. Toilet was well designed and spacious, water strength very good and surprisingly, NO CHOKING at the shower room drain off.
Breakfast was very rudimentary but that was acceptable for the room price that I paid. Wow, the coffee was super and I really enjoy drinking the morning coffee.
Hotel services, from the reception to the front desk executive who granted my late check-out, bell hop, waitresses, etc could not be faulted. They tried even though some appeared to be on training.
Overall, I would give them a high grade for the room, location and services. Keep it...
