Dropped by here to dry up a little while attempting to walk from the city centre of Victoria to Ujana Kewangan in the heavy rain.
For most people coming to Labuan, they usually ignore the museum because Malaysian museums usually carry a stigma of not being historically accurate or that it is boring due to a lack of artefacts on display.
While Malaysian museums are generally like that, Labuan's museum is surprisingly interesting. Who knew that Labuan's first colonial ruler was James Brooke who is usually associated as the first Rajah of Sarawak? Or that Labuan has been continuously inhabited for the past 4,000 years as seen in Pulau Burung? Or the past flags of Sabah that looked pretty cool before its latest iteration? Or why there are no colonial buildings in Labuan? There were plenty of information here not seen on Malaysian history textbooks that are on full display here at the Labuan museum.

there is a mini park/recreation area where people can sit down and enjoy the shaded area right in front of the museum.
the place is well-airconditioned and has 2 floors. once writing your name in the visitor's log, we were told to progress through the museum clockwise.
travel through the museum learning about the history of Labuan. variations of the Labuan map can be found throughout. old artifacts, traditional attires, etc.
great place for tourists ,even locals to walk through history and/or simply to cool off from the blazing sun.

Labuan has been a very pleasant surprise. The city is beautiful, can be easily discovered by foot. It has good walkways (which is not that common in these parts of the world) and a few nice parks.
The museum offers a good overview of Labuan’s history. One is guided from room to room and invited to explore Labuan’s history. The museum contains mainly pictures and description but also some interesting artefacts.
One can spend here 1-1/2 hours reading about Labuan, its past and the recent achievements.
