Tldr; Great 5 star service at a no frills, back to basics, Uber clean guest house.
Context: Wanted to visit Taman Negara and was looking for a simple, no frills, and clean place to stay. Found this spot with a cozy private room.
Location: Getting in to Taman Negara requires you to take a boat ride across the river, and this spot is a quick 5 minute walk to the floating platform. There are quite a lot of restaurants around there too which makes it convenient. If you drove you’ll be happy to know there are parking spots at the guest house.
Amenities: It’s a basic, no frills spot, so there was no air conditioning nor hot water here, but I didn’t miss it at all as it was cooling at night. The guest house is also very very clean (toilet, room, bed sheets, and the common areas) with free wifi as well. There’s a chilled out spot at the porch with drinks in the fridge too if you want to unwind after a day of hiking.
Staff: This is a family operated guest house and so the service you get is personalised, welcoming, and warm. Felt like I was staying in someone’s home. I loved the short brief I was given on hiking activities in Taman Negara when I arrived as well. In short, their customer service is the main reason I’d come back here again, no doubt.

Read moreHamid and his family will take excellent care of you, they're so nice that they will move your laundry if it starts raining or to place it directly under the sun. Hamid knows the jungle very well and will give you good advice for the activities that are worth it and where to spend the day if you go alone. This place covers all your basic needs : a confortable bed (the pillows are so comfortable, never found this level of comfort before), a bathroom with toilets and shower (no hot water but you won't need it as it is super hot), no AC but the fan makes the job. You can buy fresh water bottles (1.5L for 2RM), you can have tea in the garden, surrounded by mango trees and cats. Don't come here if you want a luxury resort, but if you want the real jungle experience this is the best place. The mosque was 10m from the guest house so you'll hear the prayer call all day, which was a good thing for me but might be disturbing for...
Read moreBest experience in Malaysia. We've been to a lot of hotels around here but this was the cheapest option as it was only needed to visit TN. We were pleasantly surprised! Rooms were tidy and actually not too bad with insects even if it's in the middle of the forest.
All rooms have a cozy balcony and fans. Cold water only in shower as expected.
Bed had insect net which were nice and the paintings on the walls were really special and unique. Nice touch.
Cool shared outdoor area to relax and cheap water always in a cold fridge. (2 rm 1.5L)
The owners are the kindest folks in Malaysia! So helpful and friendly. Even woke up and drove us to Jerantut at 5.45 am as our expected taxi broke down.
Only downside is that the location is right next to a Mosque that's very loud at 6 am and a few times during the day but if you don't mind or can use the provided earplugs...
