We stayed for two nights, half board, in this so-called 'resort' and did not like it at all. I can't understand why it's got such a high average score on review sites. First of all it's one of the hotels the furthest away from the riverbank so the distance to the park/restaurants/shops is the longest. When we checked in we got a room in the main building underneath the lobby and dining room. The corridor had more bugs then usual for this region. When we entered the room we were met with the oder of musky, damp, wet clothes/mold. The walls were covered with spots and patches of mold. It was suspicies there was an air freshener in the room. The room looked dated and was very worn down. There were marks, scuffs, ... on every furniture and pieces of furniture were missing. There was one window covered by a dirty curtain that was probably older then myself. The bathroom was old and worn down to, new waterheater was build next to old showerhead. The room was not clean.
The evening dinner that was included was not buffet style and was cold and tasteless. We had to sit in the back of the kitchen together with a lot of junk to eat. They gave us some plates of meat and vegetables. Then waited 15 minutes to give us rice and plates/utensils to eat. By then the food was already cold. Also one of the dishes was overcooked dry meat. This was very disappointing and the second night we decided to go out for dinner instead.
Breakfastbuffet was crowded and not well maintained. Dishes was missing for longer periods. Food was tasteless. Only good was the fresh omelet making. Coffee and no flavor at all.
For a positive note the airco was new and worked well and we also liked the swimming pool which could use some renovation (chairs were old and tiles...
Read moreHow this hotel has such high rating is very questionable. The room is primitive at best. We've traveled extensively all over South East Asia, so we're speaking from decades of traveling experience. The rooms are in need of remodeling. EVERYTHING is super old and need to be replaced. Dirty walls, dirty bathroom, old lumpy bed, stained pillows, old ripped bed sheets, bidet sprayer with no spray head, very weak wifi in our room when it does work, faucet handle used as a towel hook, and the overpriced western breakfast was stale and tasteless. Buffet breakfast is only available when there is enough guests. Otherwise, you're served a cold one plate breakfast of their choice. We asked for a different option, but were told no. If you make the mistake of booking this hotel, don't select the breakfast. Do the 3 minutes walk to town and buy the breakfast there. It is cheaper (RM 1 - 2) and taste so much better. The only positive thing is the staff. They did their very best to accommodate guests, given the lack of resources.
The town is super small, and most restaurants closed in the afternoon for a 2 to 3 hours for lunch break. Almost all the tour offices were closed.
We will not be back.
Tours are very limited. Two nights are all you need for the National Park. There were leeches in the rainforest, so bring proper clothing and repellent.
Hotel is 3 minutes walk to town and 5 minutes...
Read moreVery nice hotel with a sort of bungalows and everything one needs. I always appreciate when they thought it through about the room arrangement , ie a mirror is placed outside the bathroom too, there's a mini-fridge, cabinets to store your things, a hairdryer, bottles of water...just the AC was a bit difficult to set at the desired temperature. There's a swimming pool, this one is not that good as it's not really maintained and tiles are missing so you should be careful not to step on some holes or you may get injured. But we didn't use it so much, the water was anyway too warm. Good food, also at breakfast, it's diverse. The manager is around sometimes and will ask you to post a review, sometimes being a bit too insistive but well, he got my nice review 😁 There's a billiard table one can use. Many cats are around and bugs. If you're there at around Eid just expect some fireworks and firecrackers shooting close to the dining room, they don't last long but it startled me several times during dinner. Location: at the end of all the guesthouses of this Taman Negara housing area, so it's quiet but still at a walking distance from the mini markets and the boats. A pickup could be arranged from the boat to the hotel (if you have eg large suitcases) but only the staff of the boat could call them and it took them a while to come. Overall a...
