Well OK Niranjana is not situated IN Gopeng itself, which is really a good thing because you won't get that nice environment in town.||||We were looking for a quiet place to stay, with access to nature but with modern amenities (en-suite toilet, hot water heater ...), & inexpensive at the same time haha ... And Niranjana fit all our requirements. ||||The owner was helpful right from the beginning, and made us feel really at home throughout our stay. We especially enjoyed the company of the dogs that followed him wherever he went :-)||||The river runs at the back of our room. We could enjoy the cool refreshing air and the sunshine on the chair or in the dip pool. The river can get loud at times, but it's a soothing type of sound so it didn't bother us at all.||||We also enjoyed the sturdy beds and clean rooms. OK since it IS a natural environment, there were insects & leaves/grass that flew in when we opened our doors. But I believe nature lovers would not mind them.||||The restaurant looks simple, but if you sit outside the view is just magnificent!!! Too bad my command of English is not good enough to describe it, so you just gotta go there and see for yourself ...||||A word of caution: You will need to go in a car through a very narrow, very curvy hill road in order to get to all the accommodations in this area. If you are not experienced driving in such condition, check with the owner to see if he can help. I have driven to Fraser's before and thought I could manage this, but it turned out to be pretty scary still.||||The last point is actually a pro to some and a con to others: there is no internet access. It's not a matter of the villa not providing it, there simply is no connection in that area - my local data plan didn't work. My local phone worked well enough though. There was a DVD player in our room, so I suppose if you REALLY need entertainment you could bring some DVDs from your home ...||||I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable place to stay; to people who really love nature and do not scream at the sight of insects; to people who enjoy really fresh air & unpolluted environment; to people who want a relaxing getaway. ||||But if you can't live without internet, then this place is...
Read moreOne of the greatest things about tripadvisor is that it allows you to find people who are living their dreams with mind-wobbling passion and energy. Mindi (an educated guess of the spelling of his nickname), the owner of Nirjanjana villas is certainly one of them. A great ambassador for Malaysian mixed heritage, rooted both in Australia, Malaysia and India, he made a great impression on us all. A very tolerant, educated and entertaining host. Our family of five spent two nights at Mindi's beautiful villas end of December 2015. Mindi was very friendly and forthcoming, he made sure that we were well feed throughout the day (including tasty snacks of fried banana and sweet potato after our rafting session). He showed us a beautiful waterfall close to the villas and took us for a walk around his land. The villas were big, clean with very comfortable beds (ours had two king size beds and a single bed), big windows that were facing the river and a big bathroom with a good sized shower. Our children loved the place and all the dogs (our youngest daughter sanna keeps asking for Cookie, one of the puppies that she proudly named). A five star experience - I highly...
Read moreHeard about this place from a friend - what a find - if your after something a little off the beaten track - yet with all the amenities of home. Firstly its a working durian farm nestled in the hills with a mountain stream running past your backdoor. Our host picked us up from the fast train and ensured our every need. The rooms are private and of hotel quality. Daily we had fresh fruit picked direct from the farm - occassional trips into town for restaurant food - and regular bush walks and swims in the mountain stream to keep the kilos off. Our villa had a private plunge pool - but the stream was more refreshing. The communal kitchen makes it great for family get togethers. (or conferences and the like) White water rafting was one of the highlights. The place is still in construction - building a reception and the like - hopefuly it wont lose its rustic charm when it becomes a more publicised stop-over. Highly...
