To see this cafe in Gopeng was an eye opener for me. It's so rustic and authentic, almost like you traveled back in time a little.

Food-wise, I don't have a lot of expectations because a cafe so nicely decorated would usually be compensated by the food taste. This is more so because the superb local market eatery is just 50-100m away.

The western chicken chop is 3-stars but again, i didn't expect it to be phenomenal.

However, my fried hor-fun with bihun turned out ok. A little too salty but it does have the required wok taste.

I also sampled a piece of the local kuih. The price stings. One piece of "loh-mai-chi" is RM1.50. But it was good. I also liked how cute it was that our drinks were served with pieces of Marie biscuit.

Service - well, can be better. The lady behind the counter is busy making drinks and being the cashier. She does not give eye contact. The foreign worker who serves is not able to communicate well and have difficulty answering inquiries.

Would I return? Yes. Despite some of the short-comings, I like...

Super bad service 👎👎👎

I came from overseas to have lunch here with my family while visiting Ipoh — what a huge disappointment. We waited over an hour for our food, and nothing came. I asked the servers not once, not twice, but three times — all I got was “please wait.”

Eventually, one of them comes back and casually tells me our order was never taken. No apology, just excuses about how their staff from Myanmar couldn’t understand, etc. Not only is that unprofessional, it’s unacceptable to blame your own staff like that in front of customers.

At that point, we were fed up and decided to leave — and guess what? Nobody even came to handle the payment. When I finally confronted the staff, they acted like they couldn’t care less.

Terrible experience. Poor management. Will never return and definitely don’t...

The foreigner waiter needs training. All my table's food served to another table. When I keep on asking for my food from the local waiter, he said your food needs longer time to cook. But actually next table's customers are happily eating all the food that I ordered. I was still waiting when next table finished their food. We noticed the issue when next table's food are served and they said they already ate. But half of the food is not what they ordered. They just ate whatever been served without checking. Food was mediocre too. Only come here because I went to zahara garden. If you all want good food,...

After browsing through the reviews, I have taken my shot on this Kopitiam. The place is very heritage feel with a lot of stories behind the decoration. Which reminds me of the older days when things are not complicated and things aren’t too fancy. It brings back some good old memories when I’m living with my grandparents. Especially the red and green bean soup(红绿豆汤), it really brings back all the memories from the past. Thank you for such a place. If you come here for AC, Fancy food, High Class dishes. Sorry this might not be the place for you. Because I believe that Gopeng is a place where Nature and People connect.

Verdict: Average taste, skyhigh price. Food: - Nasi Lemak Biasa: 3/10. The nasi lemak wasn't cooked with coconut milk, it just tasted like white rice. - Dessert of the day: 7/10 - Chee Cheong Fan: 6/10 Environment: - The restaurant nicely renovated - Cozy in the morning Service: Can be more friendly and welcoming Price: Expensive. It's more expensive than KL's food. E.g. Nasi Lemak Biasa RM8.
