5 star food 5 star owner attitude 1 star drinks lady attitude 1 star service speed overall
If you are in a rush. Just don't bother. Food definitely takes 40-45 mins to arrive just like other reviews have mentioned. Nothing much is open past noon on a weekday in this sleepy town with not much to eat. They probably get their customers and the bulk of the reviews from those like us, who unfortunately are trying to just get some decent food for lunch and had to choose this place cuz they're the only ones open.
The drinks/tea is separate from the main shop owners. The main shop owner lady was really nice about recommending dishes and friendly with taking orders for food. However, the same cannot be said about the drinks lady. Lady who runs the drinks stall will collect money from you as soon as drinks are served. We ordered Chinese tea and she collected money up front and after that never bothered to refill hot water and when we asked, she would give us a terrible attitude and an annoyed look on her face when asked to refill hot water in our tea pot. Definitely do not recommend ordering tea from her. Just order a single drink and be done with her to save yourself from bad service.
Their only saving grace is thankfully their food is delicious and cheap. We ordered a sang yu (Haruan Fish) cooked in 2 ways: sang yu/Haruan fish soup with seaweed, and sang yu/Haruan cooked kam heong style. And ordered a paku veggie with belacan, and a ham yu fa lam bou (salted egg with pork slices in claypot) All the dishes are delicious and tasty and satisfying - though I can't tell if it's because we had to wait 45 mins for our food and were already starving by the time food arrived, or if their cooking style is just that good.
Either way, we were satisfied with the meal in terms of taste and the price. It was around total of about RM80 for 4 of us all in for 4 dishes and rice. Not so satisfied by the wait time for food and the service by the drinks lady.

Read moreNice local Chinese family run restaurant offering good tasty dishes at very reasonable prices. Can't beat cheap & good. Had sang yue (haruan fish) in 2 styles. The fillet was cooked with ginger and spring onions while the bones, fins and head was deep fried and cooked into a herbal soup (tong kwei, yook chok, dates, goji berries etc). Very delicious. Also ordered chicken with bitter gourd. Final price RM52.60 ONLY!!! Good to call up to enquire if open as they suka suka will close one day in 2 or 3 weeks. No eWallets, so bring cash. Highly recommended. Lots of parking. Will come again to try other dishes. Came back for dinner again. This time had ma yaw yue, (ikan senangin or threadfin fish) cooked with taufu and bean curd skin and pork belly...
Read moreLocated at Gopeng a neighbourhood Chinese restaurant found unintentionally. The quality of the food meet my standard. It seems attracted a number of customers to visit this restaurant. They a famous with stir fried ginger onion snakehead fish. The bone of the fish will be deep fried and cook as a soup which surprises us. The fish meat is soft and fresh to eat. It cost around RM70 but the portion is big. We also ordered the clay pot taufu, but it is nothing special. For the parking, you may just park at the roadside with free parking in...
