Staying here for 3 nights and honestly, I wouldn’t come back. The setting may be peaceful and surrounded by nature, but that’s about the only thing going for Redang Island Resort. Everything else—from the rooms to the food to the overall upkeep—feels tired, neglected, and overpriced for what you get.
The rooms are basic, not as clean as expected and very dated. Furniture looks like it hasn’t been replaced in years, and the bathroom was particularly disappointing—old fixture and a constant damp smell that housekeeping just masked with air freshener. Not what you’d expect from a place calling itself a resort.
Staff were a mixed bag. Some were friendly enough, it felt like they are not well trained and clueless sometimes. At times, it felt like they were just going through the motions.
Facilities are severely lacking and looks worn out. Common areas don’t seem to get much maintenance—peeling paint, cracked tiles, dusty corners. There’s practically no atmosphere, no energy, and very little to do on-site unless you pre-arrange outside tours, which the resort doesn’t help with much.
Food was below average. Breakfast was repetitive and unimaginative—think cold sausages, instant noodles, and overly sweet cordial drinks passed off as juice. Lunch and dinner options were limited, bland, and overpriced. No other dining options unless you take a boat to the main beach i.e. Pasir Panjang, which is a hassle and costs extra. You’ll likely end up eating the same things every day, and not enjoying any of them.
Overall, this place feels like it’s stuck in the past, coasting on its location and ignoring everything else. No real effort to modernize or improve. For the price, it feels like daylight robbery. You can get far better value, service, and experience elsewhere on Redang. The sad part is that this place could be great with the right management—but as it stands now, it’s a frustrating, underwhelming, and disappointing stay. Not...
