The positives|Smooth check in, friendly receptionist lady, nice touch on the warn cookies as welcome gift, lovely children splash pool, very comfortable bed, good blackout curtains||The negatives|Location was too far out from everything else, need a car to travel around, only one restaurant Makan which is where they serve breakfast at. We stayed in Double Tree around the world unfortunately this one is by far the most unpleasant. I’m referring to mostly due to cleanliness, functionality of the room and breakfast. I’ve booked two rooms, a twin for my parents and a large family room for husband I and two young children. The room carpets had stains and was filthy. The toilet in the twin room was badly blocked, my parents had trouble flushing the toilet and it would blocked so badly. They got someone in to fix the issue the next day. The cover of our room lock keeps falling off. |Bathrooms floors have stains and to be honest quite disgusting. Please see photos probably build up over the years or limescale stains. For a 5 star, it’s not very nice to look at. The bathroom is always wet and slippery after a shower as the shower door unable to block water from coming out of the shower. The toilet seat is not aligned uncomfortable to seat on. The carpet floors outside the rooms are dirty and the management need to look into cleaning them. The air conditioner wasn’t working properly on both rooms. Phone wasn’t working so had to run downstairs the night after, the tall guy at the reception didn’t seem too keen on helping, literally had to spelled it out to him about how cold the rooms are despite trying to adjust and increase the temperature. Someone came to try to help and we explained we have done the same and increased the temperature however it just keeps defaulting back to 20/21 degrees. Problem didn’t resolve and so we just put up with it for the entire stay. |Also received a welcome WhatsApp message from the hotel staff which I thought was nice however addressing me with the wrong name! I clarified that the number they messaged me belongs to me, their response was can I have your correct contact number? I was puzzled I’m not sure if they understood my message, is there a language barrier?||Breakfast although had a nice variety and spread, the service however is awful. We usually turn up an an hour before they close the buffet at 10.30am and already then food is left empty and not filled up, during my stay I had to ask on 3 occasions to have food filled up at the buffet so we can have our breakfast. Nice touch on the Indian corner, the first day we there, there was lots of pieces of lamb in the lamb curry bowl however by day 3 asked them to fill up the almost empty bowl, when they did but no lamb just the curry which makes me think they don’t cook it fresh and just reheat the batch that was cooked previously and when it runs out it runs out. I don’t know if this is a Malaysian thing but used plates and cutleries are just left on the tables and not being cleared until 10.30am when they shut the buffet. We were in Phuket the same week, just comparing it to back at home in the UK and our stay in Phuket, when you have empty used plates on the table, it just gets cleared away making room for customer to help themself with more dishes, we sat there and there was just empty used plates and bowls and cutleries in almost all tables not nice to look at. Also staff don’t have sense of urgency, when ask for help they rather just take their time the responses is quite awful and probably too laid back for me. I’m not sure if I will be back as I want a 5 star to feel like a 5 star. There is just too much faults to give...
Read moreJust came back from a terrible experience at this hotel. Our company had an event at the hotel, with around 300 staffs staying here. First of all, waited 2 whole hours for the room key, with no further explanation. Feeling tired, my roommate and I couldn't bother to complain at that time.
What I saw during the 2 hours time was that there was only 1 hotel staff setting up the key card, which were given 1 by 1 to our company's representative.
I couldn't inquire further on the issue during our stay there until the day we checked out. I inquired to the staff there on the situation happened during our arrival, and the hotel staff who processed the key card one by one was there. I expressed my grievance there and she could only said that due to our big group coming in and that she is the only person who could process the key card to our rooms. She only apologised. That was a shocking answer... As a big renowned hotel, this case shouldn't happen....not only to me, but also to everyone else.
My question was, why couldn't it be done earlier.....before our group came to the hotel. It's not that our company didn't inform of our arrival with the rooms required beforehand. If they knew one or two big groups are coming, they should be prepared. We came from JB, with a hell of a bus trip and expected to get a room the soonest possible so we could relax.
The second thing was, the room was cleaned up quite late. On the second day stay here, we went back to our room for a while, during lunchbreak, to perform our prayer, and our room wasn't made. If it is linked to the above situation, no wonder this hotel had issues with untimely issuance of the key card to the guests.
The third thing was, the steam iron in our room was functioning fine, until when we poured in the water and it dripped...to the last drop. Don't they check their own assets.
The fourth thing was, when we called up the concierge to our room, expected to be arrived at a certain time, it was a no-show and we ended up carrying our own luggages and bags to the main lobby.
The fifth thing was, they didn't have a bus bay for guests that arrive by buses. Upon arrival, we had to stop on the road side and walk up a flight of stairs to go to the main lobby. And during our departure, the gate linked to the stairs were locked and we couldn't contact the person in charge of the gate to open the lock. We had to walk up a bit further just to go tou our bus, and to walk at an uneven road side, with our luggages and bags in tow.
I didn't really enjoy my stay here. And won't be coming back. Sorry but the staff here is just too unprofessional for a big...
Read moreI checked in to this Doubletree by Hilton Resort with full excitement knowing that China President Xi had just stayed in this resort a day before me...not until I discovered an "uninvited guest". I booked 2 rooms for 3D2N family vacation, I was greeted by friendly front desk staffs who valued my gold Hilton Honors status during check-in. I was given an upgrade to Deluxe King room for one of my rooms during check-in. Both my rooms were located in Wing 5 of the resort while my Deluxe King room was a spacious corner room located in the same wing. ||Unfortunately, the negative impression slowly filled in when my children informed me the used dirty towels from the last guest was left in the room. They called housekeeping to cleared them immediately. Next, in the evening, while watching TV in the room, we discovered an "uninvited guest" - a flying cockroach in my Deluxe King room! It crawled from a corner in the room to the wall and to the air conditioner air vent. It re-appeared after a few minutes before it was killed using my slipper. A cockroach egg dropped out from its body after it was smacked to death, my goodness. This shows that there could be plenty still out there with its growing population. ||I lodged a complaint at the front desk and was given a replacement room at a quieter Wing 3. After checking into the room, I realized it was actually a King Executive room with lakeview and balcony. This calmed my nerves down with good night sleep over the next 2 nights. Wing 3 is best Wing of all (1, 2, 3 and 5) as it offers good ambience, tranquility, lakeview and away from the busy kids' pool and waterpark which is located at Wing 5. ||Breakfast at Makan Kitchen was good, the restaurant offers plenty of variety, from Chinese to Malay, India and Western corners. The resort offers 2 floor of car parking space, charges RM3.00 per entry. ||There is still plenty of room for improvement, especially housekeeping and pest control in the property. In view of the resort is frequented by mostly family with children, more stringent pest control must be in place to ensure good hygiene at all times around the premise. ||Lastly, I wanted to give more stars for this review given the replacement room was much better, but I could not help thinking about the "pest" issue in my room which is totally unacceptable, especially for a reputable brand like...
