Our family's Tioman holiday memories would not be complete without hanging out and staying in Sunday Juara. We love this place and glad that we found it! It is situated among lush forest trees beside a stream. The whole place is so personal from the design of the building, to the furnitures and decorations, especially to the hospitality of the lovely hosts, Jeff and Jane. Jane serves the best brownies with ice cream (a must try!). You will also enjoy their loaded Sunday fries, and the relaxing Russian Taiga Tea (all the way from Siberia where Jane is from.) for those looking for an island style bar, this is the place as they serve cold beers, wine, and cocktails late into the night. If you just want a shady place to relax from the hot afternoon sun, this is the perfect Cafe. Don't forget to check out their eco friendly, beautiful rooms too. Jeff is a fantastic host who not only served us a delicious breakfast but also offered various activities around the island, such as diving, snorkeling, trekking, and more. If you need anything, he’s extremely responsive and always happy to help.
The room and common areas are fully equipped with everything you might need: towels, mosquito net, fan, coffee/tea station, hammock, and more. The bathroom is shared with other guests.
In the common area and bathroom, you might spot a few friendly creatures like frogs and geckos.

The lodge itself is a very cozy homestay. It’s simple and close to nature, which makes the experience feel truly authentic. For the price you pay, it’s a fantastic stay. If you are looking for luxury, you may want to consider one of the resorts on the island. But if you want the real island experience in a friendly, beautiful setting, I would absolutely recommend it.
The breakfasts were delicious, and overall it was a very special experience. Also, make sure to visit Café Shaka while you’re there—it’s...
