Maintenance terrible, management questionable, and quality standards non-existent. Hotel old dated and in urgent need of refurbishment. Saying that the Spa appears fairly new which is why the indoor pool is nice, and the gardens appear legacy and remain pleasing on he eye. I very much understand you get what you pay for. If I pay minimal money I expect a poor hotel, but Corinthia Palace Hotel is not cheap, and I would expect far better than I experienced. Parts of our room (room 128) had visible repairs such as doors, but instead of re-painting the new repairs they were just left to look awful. Bathroom door handle loose and build up of rust and dirt all around it. No walk in shower, so you have to step into a rather old looking bath with shower contraption. Air vent in ceiling is tiny and has no affect on steam generated from the hot water. Bottom of front door appears nibbled by something and never repaired. Room safe is something from the 1980's you have to set 3 times before it works. Electrical plugs next to bed have new USB ports that don't work. Toilet for some reason has a push button to flush which is so hard to push in it's ridiculous - never seen anything like it! Desk draws had part of their bottoms missing. Our welcome amenity was some fruit that staff left in place for our entire stay, and by day-4 had gone mouldy, but was left their for us to eat! Breakfast took for ever to turn up once ordered, choice wasn't' great, and cooked breakfasts were cold and ingredients such as bacon were hard. They also don't know how to cook an omelette. Comes out the kitchen resembling yellow matting on your plate. Ended up going to town for breakfast 2 out of our 4 days. Upon arrival I was greeted with an invoice for in the region of £500-£600 more than I had confirmed online. Staff told me rates had gone up and I believe they thought I might just say, "well that's okay"! Had to get the on-duty manager to discount the bill back to what I had on my paper confirmation. I wonder how many people don't notice this and end up paying more than they had initially confirmed! Overall would not go back and would certainly not recommend to anyone else. Really no idea how anyone can give this hotel 5 stars! I could go on but don't want to bore people. Ps. Duty Manager did ask what he could do as an apology for the invoice error! No idea why he is asking me though, I wanted him to tell me. Ended up with 1 round of...
Read moreJust back from a very enjoyable week here. Despite a few early minor teething problems with a long wait to get into our room and some key card and safe battery issues (which were all very professionally handled by the great reception staff), everything else went smoothly during our week.||The hotel is in lovely grounds so plenty of greenery around. The pool area is large with plenty of good sunbeds, towels and parsols. Poolside drinks service is available although it can be a little slow at times and prices are high compared to bars locally or in Valletta. Good wifi by the pool.||We had a third floor, refurbished grand deluxe room which was excellent. Huge very comfortable bed, great a/c which was a godsend as temperatures were 32c all week, mini bar, and a super bathroom with walk in shower and always plenty of hot water. Very nice balcony to sit on although our room was at the back of the hotel and the view wasn't terribly exciting, looking over a back street and a neighbouring property pool. There's also a busy road close by so a bit noisy but you can't hear it in the room. Special mention to the housekeeping staff especially Manoj who kept our room clean and immaculate the whole time and kept us well stocked with water, always with a smile and cheerful conversation. All the staff generally throughout the hotel are really nice.||Other than breakfast, we didn't eat at the hotel as we prefer to spread the love and try different local restaurants on any holiday we do (I have reviewed those places separately). Other guests told us the food was very good and breakfast was certainly always very nice.||We used the courtesy bus into Valletta once which was great, but local buses are often packed so better to use Bolt. Check what day cruises are in and avoid if possible as one day Valletta was heaving with two large ships in, but on a second day we went in there were no cruises and it was much more enjoyable. Same with Mdina, get there early, Bolt from hotel is €10.||There are no supermarkets very close by but if you do need water or sandwiches, or soft drinks/beer to take away, there's a small kiosk at the entrance to San Anton gardens across the road which does them.||We'd definitely return and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Malta. Suited us to be just outside Valletta rather than in the chaos of the city or the areas with the mass hotel developments...
Read moreMy wife and I booked a short break at the beginning of September 2025.|We were delighted with the choice of the hotel Corinthia Palace.|This is definitely a five star hotel a short distance from the centre of Valletta.Set in a delightful area next to the San Anton gardens the hotel provides a peaceful and thoroughly enjoyable experience.|The concierge team cannot do enough for you. Both Kevin and Ramesh helped us with anything we needed. Both booked excursions for us and arranged for us to be collected from the hotel at no extra charge. They helped us with taxi bookings and recommended the best places to visit as well as giving us water to take with us free of charge and with no limits.||Our seven night booking qas for the half board package. You could swap dinner for lunch if you wanted. Meals were served either in the main dining room or outside in the Secret Garden restaurant. The food quality was excellent in both restaurants and the food was beautifully presented and served by very pleasant staff. Our only comment is that we felt the hotel could have offered a little more variety of food. The half board package menu alternates on a daily basis in both restaurants|but does not change. Therefore you can be choosing off the same menu on several occasions. You can choose off the a la carte menu in both restaurants using a €45 per person allowance for your half board but this menu does not change in either restaurant even though there are some daily special items offered.|Breakfast is served in the main dining room. Very helpful and attentive serving staff will provide you with anything that you want. The selection on the breakfast buffet is superb and should suit all tastes.|Our large room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The room attendants kept everything very tidy and provided us with a plentiful supply of water at all times. Our bathroom was small and possibly a bit dated but everything worked well and the shower was powerful and very hot if you wanted.||The hotel pool area is compact but very pleasant. There was no problems in finding sunbeds and it never felt overcrowded.|We did not use the spa but we know from talking to other guests that it is a fantastic facility that includes a very large indoor swimming pool.||We cannot fault the Corinthia Palace at all and we recommend this hotel for a five star relaxing and very enjoyable holiday...
