Blue Bay Holiday Resort — Hotel in Beau Vallon

The apartment had clearly not been cleaned at all before we arrived on New Years Eve. There were black hairs on the beds and floor and all of us are blonde. The refrigerator smelled like something had died in it & indeed something had died in one of the kitchen drawers (see photo). The toilets hadn't been cleaned and there was garbage under the bed. Worse of all the doors were broken. One bedroom had the lock and handle broken, the 2nd bedroom's doorframe was broken and the front door either wouldn't lock or wouldn't unlock. When I complained the manager's son came to fix the lock and ended up doing a fantastic DIY by removing the lock recess with a kitchen knife. They tried to swindle us into paying more for airport transfers, but luckily I had asked for a receipt that did prove they were included in our already inflated price. Don't go unless you want to sleep with cockroaches and mice droppings. I am usually ok with a simple place to stay as long as it is clean and safe and this place...

That's what we did not do. We had a reservation at the holiday resort for four days and left after two days. The apartment was basically ok, spacious with two bedrooms and a nice balcony. But there was no warm water, the basic stuff (sheets, hygiene articles like toilet paper, kitchen utensils) was missing, wifi did not work, the noise from the beach nearby was continuous during the weekend and the kitchen area had a strong smell of pesticide. The back yard seemed like a dumping place etc. If you choose this apartment hotel - it is not a resort as I understand a resort - you need a car since the nearest grocery store is some five kilometers away. Or you have to take a taxi. And you have to know a little bit more than just a couple of words French, since the staff - when there was some||one present at the reception - spoke French. But in our case the reception was...

Apartment not serviced daily. Oven not working entire time we stayed there. There is no place to do laundry. You wait for hot water 5 to 6 mins, but then it's only luke warm water that comes out the tap. Most of the time, it's a cold shower.

Gas hob.. only able to use 1 burner at a time. Not sure why that is. Also limited plates, bowls etc.. so expect get creative when cooking.

At least the apartment had good internet speed.

Also bring own bedding. Note that beds are not so comfortable and make a lot of noise when just sitting down on the edge of the bed.

The view of the bay is nice.. for what you can see. Just note if the sound of aircraft taking off and landing bother you.. don't stay here..

An aircon for the lounge would be welcomed..

At least the beach...
