Pictures simply don’t do this wonderful place justice. From the secret garden walkway when you enter to the absolute magnificent views from the rooftop lounge area — Casa Kootenay is exactly what everyone needs!

Leeanne is a fabulous host and greets you upon arrival with all the info needed to make your stay wonderful. The breakfast dining area is truly remarkable with all of the beautiful artwork from around the world. Plus the brekkie hot plates are delish and always paired with a fresh fruit plate and sweet treat. Not to mention, there is truly nothing Leeanne has missed — the woman has thought of everything to make your stay so comfortable.

The beach is immaculate and usually empty which is such a nice treat! I saw dolphins EVERYday for sunrise and sunset. I was even able to use one of the kayaks to get a bit closer and saw a small sea lion pop her head up a few times. The best spot for sunrise and sunset is on the rooftop. I even saw a rainbow my first sunrise there. Truly a magical place with lots of friendly wildlife. From the dolphins to the hummingbirds — you’ll feel like you’re in Nature Narnia :) There are bikes to use but walking to the Malecon takes no time. What great area to grab some food and wander around a bit.

The room I stayed in was bigger than my apartment. Immaculate, very comfortable (great pillows!), the AC was heaven when the humidity was too much, there is nothing missing in those rooms either — mini fridge with cold water, Robes, beach towels — even Netflix for those who dare to watch tv on holiday ;) and the sweet pool is a great way to cool off when relaxing in the sun too!

Unfortunately I wound up with Covid (first timer) and Leeanne was beyond kind and accommodating. She made me feel welcome and comfortable! Leeanne was so kind and stuck to protocol but brought me plates of food with nice notes everyday while I quarantined. She really went out of her way to make sure I was safe and comfortable and also to make sure the B&B was sanitized for guests. Leeanne truly goes above and beyond for her guests. You leave wanting to stay longer — so much so that when I felt better I extended my stay a few days to enjoy all that Casa Kootenay and La Paz has to offer.

I was so happy to see the city was clean and the beaches were kept spotless considering the foot traffic. I also felt very safe in La Paz. Like any city — be heads up but as a solo female I felt safe.

My only issue is that I wish I could have brought her sweet Casa Kitten Lizzy home with me — she and Leanne’s new rescue pup truly melted my heart.

Leeanne is such a fabulous host! I can’t wait to come...

My wife and I are avid travelers and we seek out accommodations that are intimate and generally away from the more highly touristy areas.|We just completed our first trip to wonderful Baja and La Paz. A big part of what made this trip so enjoyable was the attention and expertise we got from Leeanne and the outstanding comfort of Casa Kootenay. This is Leanne’s home and passion project and it shows in any number of ways.|I start my research with 4.8 traveler rated housing and above. Casa Kootenay popped to the front of the line. My initial inquires with Leeanne were met with a timely, informative response. As Casa K only has four rooms, we built out trip around availability. Reading other traveler reviews it was apparent that Casa Kootenay was a special experience. The daily abundant breakfasts lovingly, creatively prepared by Alma, Cecilia’s helpfulness and Leanne’s expertise make Casa Kootenay a five stay for a three star price.|Whether it’s using the free kayaks or SUPS to play with the dolphins, or the free provided bikes to ride the dedicated bike paths fifteen minutes to the Malecon, or simply lounging on the upstairs deck to gaze out over Leeanne’s beach as far as your eyes can see (each sunset more magnificient than the last), Casa Kootenay was the gift that kept on giving. This was really one of the most magnificent stays we’ve had and it made our first trip to La Paz (definitely not our last) one we’ll never forget.|Leeanne is expert at providing suggestions on how to spend your days. We visited beaches based on her suggestions that we might not have found on our own. From open markets, to the Malecon, Carnivale to swimming with whales, every day in La Paz and at Casa Kootenay was varied, rich and full. |We had eight nights at Casa Kootenay and frankly, we were hoping the snow back home might have kept us there longer.|Casa Kootenay, Leeanne, her staff, Sauza and Rain helped to give us the Baja vacation of our dreams. We’re already imagining our next trip.|Lastly, ask Leeanne about Silvia Pech Duarte at SP Servicios Profesionales for extraordinary guide services. Google maps got us easily to the front door of Casa Kootenay. Leeanne gave us a complete tour of the grounds, right off. The courtyard entrance is beautiful, with a tiled Hot-tub and Pool, several seating areas and plenty of space to lounge, either in the sun, or in the shade of umbrella, or foliage. The lobby feels open air, with lots of tile, glass, and a beautiful view of the beach and waterfront. She has plenty of tour information and she will also set you up with local tour operators, if you ask. She arranged for us to swim with the whale sharks, which was an unforgettable experience. She led us past the outdoor kitchen area, which is available to guests, and has a refrigerator of beverages at a small cost. Our room was second floor, and had plenty of space, nice bath, small refrigerator and safe, with a view of the courtyard. But the real view is on the beach front terrace. She has a large terrace, with lots of seating, games, shade if you want, and a panoramic view of the beach and bay. The best part comes at Sunset, when we would sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the show. Very beautiful and relaxing. Breakfasts were amazing, and varied. Each morning we had fresh fruit, smoothies, coffee/tea, and a home made traditional mexican eggs/tortila/etc dish. Tasty and plentiful. Whenwe weren't out exploring, we took advantage of her complimentary Kayak, and wind surfer, to enjoy the bay, right off of her beachfront. The location was great, in that it was just out of the resterauant district, but was a short (5 min) drive to the middle of it all, where there was plenty of parking. La Paz is a great town to visit, and has lots of shopping/Food, and a beautiful waterfront, as well as being close to other beaches, and golf, if that suits you. We highly recommend Casa Kootenay to anyone.

Where to start!? What a treat it was to stay at Casa Kootenay! We were immediately made to feel at home upon our arrival by the wonderfully warm Leeanne and her equally wonderful, and incredibly friendly, dogs. The property was a real oasis, with nooks and crannies to laze around, and was well kempt. The rooftop area was simply perfect to enjoy a drink, or, in our case, bottles of tequila, and watch the sun set over the Baja horizon, as well as chat to fellow travellers, some of whom have become friends. We stayed in two different rooms, both of which were substantial in size, and very clean. The beds were massive, very comfortable and had lovely linen. The wifi worked well all over the property, too, in case you wondered. Lastly, but of the upmost importance, the breakfasts that Leeanne prepared for us in the mornings were simply divine! The breakfasts themselves are worthy of a lengthy review, but take my word, they were heavenly! Leeanne catered specifically for my vegetarian diet, but I would seriously have considered becoming a carnivore after 25 years; that's how good the meaty breakfasts looked. Fresh coffee, fresh fruit and cake were also provided. Food heaven and food coma galore! I will be raving about this place to everyone. One day, I hope, we will meet again in Casa Kootenay. I wish you all the success, Leeanne, as it is truly deserved.
