We arrived late at night, just prior to the office closing. We were assigned, Room 8, a highly defective room, which lead to the theft of over $1500 of our things. The room has a huge gap between the frame of the door and the supporting beam. We tried to switch, but the office was closed after we checked in. ||||The next day we realized that we were missing a brand new camera, ipod, docking station, and cash!! Someone broken into our room and stole our things, quite possibly while we were sleeping in the room. As you can see from the photos, someone was able to break in from unlatching the door, from the outside. We were deeply upset and disturbed and went over to the office to explain what happened. ||||When I explained we are fearful of our safety there, she offered to let us carry out our stay at the surf colony. We agreed and moved our things over. The young lady in the office recommended we speak to the manager about the matter. The lady said to check back in two hours. After checking back four times and never being able to reach her, I assumed she was in business meetings and continued with my day. When I ran into her later that afternoon, I realized she was the woman at the pool all day talking to guests and hanging out at the bar. ||||When I explained my situation to her she gave me a blank, unsympathetic look that gave me the impression I was wasting her time. She informed me that theft is not their problem. I disagreed as the theft was not due to my own negligence, but occurred as a result of a clear defect in our room. She offered no sympathy or explanation and said she would take our claim to corporate. I left very upset and went to seek out my sister. The manager was back at the bar laughing within two minutes of our conversation, clearly not taking any action with corporate or anyone of higher authority. ||||I suffered a huge loss as a result of those rooms. I just hope that this offers some sort of warning to those travelers planning to stay here. All of our cash ($350 worth), my new Ipod ($400), my Bose docking station ($250), my Canon Powershot ($600), ALL WAS STOLEN FROM INSIDE OUR ROOM. None of this was a result of negligence, as we kept our room locked at all time with our things inside.Whoever broke in was inside of my purse, locked inside of our room. The manager was not at all sympathetic, kind, or helpful and didn't even care about the loss, whatsoever. ||||I am so upset about all of the money I LOST as a result of staying here. I am in customer service and I am baffled by the apathetic response I received by the acting manager. Such a disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Such a brutal experience with no effort to improve it...
Read moreIf you have a late arrival to Los Cabos Intl and its after dark when you arrive to KM 67, expect a difficult time locating the property. Signage is poor. Daytime should not be a problem. You will be instructed to check in at the Hacienda Cerritos, the beautiful hotel on the cliff. But you may not find anyone there at all, especially if you are arriving after dark, even if their stateside communications department is fully aware of your late checkin. Checkin was an offputting process for us. The time between arriving at KM 67 and opening the door to our palapa took 3 hours, after a full day of airline travel. No bueno. A local Gringo massage therapist ended up helping us contact security from Hacienda Cerritos who could contact the groundskeeper at Mayan Village Resort to accommodate us. Had it not been for her we could have spent our first night in Mexico sleeping on a public beach. We were not happy, and stateside administration did nothing to address the situation other than a short email apology for the inconvenience, though I specifically requested a direct phone call.
BEDBUGS need to be professionally treated in all palapas. If you are sleeping in the bed then they are present. There are no fitted sheets, just flat sheets that don't reach the end of the mattresses. I would recommend bringing your own sheets for this property.
The caretakers during our stay Javier and Daisy were professional and wonderful. They respected boundaries but were not afraid of them and could not have been more sweet and accomodating. Since we were the only guests at the village during our stay getting acquainted with these two was a highlight of our stay. Javier's English is adequate and he is eager to improve, he is a real asset to the operation.
Overall, We had a most wonderful time during our six nights at Cerritos beach. The beachfront access was absolutely fantastic, like having our own private beach. We plan on returning to the Todos Santos/Pescadero region, but not the Mayan...
Read moreif you enjoy camping outdoors, you will love this beach front experience. If you "Don't do the Camping thing"... then this is not for you. ||2. You will need to bring own supply of Food and Beverage - a cooler would be great, although each hut does have a mini fridge included. A restaurant on the beach can be found just a five min walk away, but restaurant prices may be high. Good for coffee and breakfast, burgers and such. ||3. Communal type bathroom/ shower facilities just behind the huts. Separate Men's and Ladies, with high walls but no roof. Very nice. ||4. The best thing about this experience is being able to sleep and relaxing under a billion stars, while hearing the crashing waves of the ocean and enjoying a fine bottle of Red. ||5. The huts do have electricity, so you want to have a portable radio or device to play music at times. ( better yet, take your own guitar or harmonica and make...
