I had booked this place through booking.com website. It is very close to the ADO bus terminal and hence has a very good access. The payment was to be made directly at the venue and they also accept card payment which I realized only later.||I presume the area around is not very safe and I saw some people (suspiciously and mysteriously) get in to another building nearby at night by trespassing and climbing over the wall and the barbed fence. It also seemed like that there is activities of CSWs and prostitution prevalent around the area (though I am not sure). However, Las Palmas was totally safe and was a peaceful and quiet place.||From the few reviews I read, I had an impression that this place is used mainly by budget travellers, truck drivers etc. So I did not want to stay in the dorm. I stayed in a private room and not the dorm. The rooms are across the stretch behind the back door and I was a bit afraid initially about the safety (esp having witnessed the trespassing in neighbourhood). However the person at the desk reassured me and said that such things did happen but NOT in Las Palmas. The room I stayed in (the last one at the end), was average in size and the bed is ok. The attached bath funnily did not have a door. The room had an aircon and LCD TV. It was bright and had a very colourful décor with one wall coloured and the bright bedspread.||The WiFi was good but the signal was string mainly in the lobby and the kitchen and outdoor dining area. I used Skype and g-talk to speak to my family and this was a boon as it was difficult to get a local SIM card. ||The breakfast was basic bread, butter and jam and some fruit juice or coffee but it was sufficient. For the price on offer, this is a good place for a budget traveler. People running this place are nice and helful. There is some difficulty in communication and English is not their primary language. Spanish is easily understood. ||However, I met some people who stayed a few streets away in some other hostel (Mundo Jovan) and pvt rooms there through HI5 and hostel international. That seemed more clean, safe and upmarket for a little...
Read moreI traveled in Cancun without a reservation in any hostel/hotel around NYE (advice: do NOT do that!). Everything on hostelworld was fully booked so I found this place while walking on the streets after getting off the bus station (it's 2 mins from it). The staff is helpful (but speak very little English, so make sure at least one person in your party speaks basic Spanish). The rooms are clean. The only thing I didn't like is that they had no female dorm (I had to endure a old 60-something man snooring like hell in my dorm... annoying) and in the dorm where I was (the one downstairs), you couldn't close the window so sometimes you could hear some noises (but in my case, nothing dramatic, nobody was throwing a party next to that window, just cars and all that, still, I would have prefered to be able to close it).||||Another useful thing is they have lockers! They also have wi-fi, but it was not working while I was there and they could not fix it (but I was able to connect to a nearby non-protected network). ||||* This is not a party hostel/flashpackers hostel! If you're looking for one of these places, don't come here! ||||Enjoy your...

But the price was right and it was about a block away from the ADO bus terminal. I ended up at Las Palmas after booking a last minute flight to Cancun for Dec 24. With no hotel reservation, I stumbled onto Las Palmas after walking in the area looking for a place to settle for a few nights. It's run like a family business, but they are very helpful if you can speak the language. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a non-fuss place to sleep cheap and rather clean. Saving some money helped me visit Chichen-Itza, Xenotes, XCaret and...
