We did the street foods tour today with Cancun food tours. We booked thru Expedia the day before and had no issues booking and getting picked up at our hotel. The admin staff emailed us quickly letting us know when they would be picking us up and even answered a few of our questions. Our tour guide was Nav (short for Navarro). He's was freaking awesome. Super knowledgeable, great English, funny, and attentive but not over bearing. Here's a quick snap shot of our trip. Pick up at 915am. Followed by one more hotel pick up. Our group was a total of 10 tourists. 7 adults and 3 kids. Van was comfortable and sat 13. So we had plenty of room and AC worked great. We made a total of 5 stops. One of which was in the middle of Mercado 23, a lovely little outdoor market with produce stands and gift shops at Mexico prices (not hotel zone prices). We are at very small shops that I know for a fact I would not have stumbled on to on my own. The food was fantastic! Best part of the tour was Nav who was also our waiter, busboy, historian, and tour guide. He ordered everything and paid the tab. So there was no guessing. We just took a seat and he fed us. One thing to make clear, this food tour only provides about one smaller portion at each location. But that was great so you didn't get full early and had room to try everything. And to make it more clear the first carnitas taco we had was loaded with meat. Like two of those and I would have been good for all of lunch. They end the day with a refreshing dessert fruit popsicles while we get a history lesson on the building of Cancun.
Overall this tour was excellent. I'm not easily impressed but was very happy with the services I received for the price. I would highly recommend this tour and Nav as your guide. Below are some pics of some of the food we tried. Hope this helps. Just book it already.
*Pro Tip: If you book this tour, only three locations had bathrooms. Do yourself a huge favor. Skip using the bathroom at the outdoor market (mercado23). It's . The next one is in a restaurant and you won't have to wait long...
Read moreMy wife and I went on the Street Food Tour and we cannot recommend it enough. If you are looking for an experience that is not the typical "tourist" experience, this is the perfect tour for you. You will get to experience authentic Mexican food in authentic settings. Hector, our guide, was very knowledgable about the food, the locations, and the local culture and kept a lively discussion going throughout the excursion. And David, our driver was also very pleasant, a very safe driver, and helped make the day that much better. One thing to keep in mind: every hotel, travel agent, and tour agent in Cancun is in competition with one another. When we told the driver who picked us up from the air port that we were going on a street food tour, he immediately began dissuading us, saying that the food was not safe, that we could get sick, and that the places we would visit would not be "safe for tourists." Furthermore, when waiting for our Cancun food tour van to pick us up from our hotel, the hotel staff purposefully did not alert us of our transportation and waited till the van left to let us know. This was because hotels want their guests to book tours through them and their partners. So, don't let anyone dissuade you from taking this tour. The food is out of this world, the people are warm, friendly, and wonderful, and the Cancun Food Tours team is very professional and will ensure that you have a...
Read moreAn absolutely delightful evening - we would wholeheartedly take this tour again! We were treated to an abundance of delicious food across the three stops, leaving us with a delightful challenge of trying to savor it all. Make sure to bring some cash with you for the market visit and for tipping the mariachis. At the last restaurant there was also someone doing the pictures in sombreros - it was around $12 (USD) to buy one if you wanted it. The Lucha Libre matches were the definite highlight, offering three bouts packed with all sorts of costumes and entertaining antics. It was an immersive experience, as the excitement often spilled over into and interacting with the crowd, making us feel like an integral part of the action. The true stars of the tour were undoubtedly our fantastic guides, G & Angel. They navigated the evening with seamless expertise, providing informative explanations along the way. Thanks to their efforts, we were treated like VIPs and enjoyed front row seats to the Lucha Libre. Their attention to detail ensured we had an absolutely wonderful evening. Overall, this tour was an unforgettable evening filled with delicious food, delightful entertainment, and impeccable guiding. We can't wait to relive this experience again...
