Hotel John David — Hotel in Chiapas

Not a great place. Was well signed to get here but its just a bad area. Roads like a bmx track. In the night time the area felt very rough. The room had a tiny window that bizarrely looked into the enclosed hallway so it felt very dark and closed off. The air con was awful, just didnt cool the place down at all. At one point a huge cockroach scurried in from under the door and scared the life out of us! Shower had no pressure and was cold. Most annoyingly though, the staff asked me to come down and move the car, when i got to the lot they wanted me to put it at an angle, not a problem, but after the 3rd time and him wanting me to move it an inch each time I lost my temper. No other car could have fitted in the little space and a motorbike could have easily. No reason to move an inch, the stone faced guy was just being a dick. Loud construction work in the morning too in one of the rooms downstairs, no nice to be woken up tonthe sound of pickaxes on stone! Only plus side was that they had parking, if youll park exactly the way some moron wants and the wifi was good. I really dont recommend this place or the town...

Its nice to be able to leave a 5* review.||||What can I say, the place looks great both inside and out with very friendly and helpful reception staff with some spoken English.||||We were in room 9 which is on the second floor with a balcony above the main entrance. The room has 2 very comfortable double beds and a nice en suite bathroom. The room also has TV with many channels and the best air conditioning I experienced in Mexico.||||I did see other guests but the hotel was remarkably quiet at night and the sleep quality was excellent.||||The wifi was strong and free but we didn't try the breakfast.||||I would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it...

We had a great stay at this hotel. Spotlessly clean and good WiFi! The staff are really what made the stay tho. Couldn't fault them, they were so lovely to us. We missed breakfast so they dropped it up to our room without us asking :) We also had some confusion with our bus so we only arrived at 5am the morning after we should have checked in and they offered us an extra nights stay at no cost because we technically missed our first night. So generous of them!! Would definitely recommend, it's not too far of a walk to the town...
