My family’s trip to Casa Angelina was underwhelming to say the least. I would suggest anyone considering a stay here to think twice. The best thing about this property was the food and drinks provided by the bartender and chef they suggest.
Our family of 10 occupied 6 of the rooms in this home. 2 of the rooms did not have a functioning air conditioner, one did not have electricity, and none of them had “premium bedding” as advertised. Everyone joked, trying to make the best of the situation, that they didn’t sleep through the night but rather took naps. It was virtually impossible to get any rest.
The WiFi would be out of range if you were more than 10 feet from the bar area. Most people may not care about Wi-Fi while on vacation, but this was a major inconvenience for some.
The mainline of water broke in the middle of the night flooding one of the rooms and ruining many items, including shoes and electronics. The repair took about a day so we were without any running water for that day. This issue was likely a huge misfortune for us and the property and I wouldn’t anticipate it happening again any time soon. Nonetheless, it was one of the many things that dissatisfied us about our stay at this property.
The main issue, which led to this negative review, was the staff stealing cash and personal items from the rooms. Typically, I will message property owners directly and save them from a bad review to go over things they should fix for future occupants. However, this incident led to many red flags that anyone considering this property should be aware of. There was $1,600 missing, which would have gone unnoticed until we had already left as we wouldn’t have thought to count any money prior to leaving. There was female makeup and irreplaceable jewelry that held deep sentimental value that came up missing as well.
We asked that the items be placed back by the front door in the middle of the night, but to no avail. We had to file a police report and almost missed our flight back home. We were ready to look past the issues with the property and only send a short critique of how the owner can better the experience for future stays. However, having items and money stolen from us is unacceptable. We hope ownership considers hiring new staff and until then anyone considering this property should think twice.
Edit: Erick Meyer, you finally show up after avoiding us. Let me address the lies you decided to spew out.
We reported our items and money missing prior to receiving any sort of bill, invoice, or notice of any amount that was due.
Your house manager, Ale, cried and begged us not to call the police and insisted on us instead “filing a claim” with the “company,” which I presume consists of only you. I am now confident that would have been a dead end. We did file a police report, who sided with us when we presented them with the evidence. Please see the attached photo.
We asked to review and security cameras and were told that no such cameras existed on the property. Strange that now cameras do exist.
We did leave gratuity, privately, for both the chef and bartender.
There was only 1 router, by the pool, that was emitting a wifi signal.
I encourage anyone to review the 5 star reviews that Erick mentioned. You’ll find that a majority of them include himself and his staff that work at the property.
The red flag that should have deterred us to stay away from this property was you asking us to avoid using the Airbnb, and to book directly through you. This makes a lot of sense now. Erick, you seem like you have a lot of growing up to do, not only in the business world but also in life. Opt out of your next Instagram Airbnb Guru class and pick up a book. It’ll get...
Read moreThis would be the first review I have ever written and I'm not sure where to begin because there is SO MUCH to say. To start off, the house itself is absolutely incredible, four out of the eight bedrooms come with it's own infinity pool and almost all the bedrooms had an incredible view overlooking the Zihuatanejo Bay. Outside the house was a small play ground, as well as an open bar, the perfect accommodation for our family of 17 ranging from adults and kids of all ages. Even with all of us the house never felt crowded because it was so spacious and everyone still had their own privacy; this makes it a perfect place even for a large business trips or an adventurous destination place for a group of young adults.
I think I could speak for everyone who has stayed here that the best part of the house is not the place itself but the staff and the services they provided. The minute we landed we were greeted by one of the nicest people I had ever met named Salvador, who already had the cars ready for us to go the house. During our stay, our laundry was done for us, every meal was cooked by their very talented chef Delfino. Delfino made food ranging from a traditional Mexican breakfast called chilaquiles to freshly caught lobster from the ocean. Thanks to one of their staff members Aldo, who was very diligent in making all of our complicated transportation arrangements so that we could to go to the beach, the zoo, deep sea fishing and even check out the night scene to go dancing.
Let's be honest, it's rare to find a place where your entire family can vacation at for an entire week and have it all go smoothly, but Casa Cielo is for sure one of them. The house is so large that everyone was able to do their own thing rather it be my cousins playing in the pool or my uncle relaxing with a drink at the bar. The entire staff worked really hard to make sure we were relaxed and that we had the transportation and accommodations for whatever our next adventure was. I couldn't be more honest when I say staying here will probably be one of the most memorable vacations...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived at the villa, I knew my wife and I's 40th birthday celebration was going to be something truly special. This private villa in Zihua wasn't just as advertised - it exceeded all our expectations, turning a milestone birthday into an experience of a lifetime.
The villa itself was a slice of paradise. Nestled in a breathtaking location, it boasted stunning views that seemed straight out of a postcard. Every morning, waking up to the serene beauty of Playa la Ropa was a delight. The architecture and decor of the villa flawlessly blended luxury with local charm, creating an ambiance that was both upscale and inviting.
What made our stay exceptionally memorable was the attention to detail. Every amenity promised was provided with the highest standard of quality. The rooms were spacious and beautifully furnished, offering both comfort and elegance. The outdoor area was equally impressive, with a pristine pool and lounging areas that became our haven for relaxation and celebration.
The staff (Maritza especially) at the villa deserves a special mention. They were not just professional and efficient but also incredibly warm and accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and that our birthday celebrations were as joyful and seamless as possible.
The highlight, of course, was the birthday celebration. The setting was magical - imagine fine dining under the stars. The food was exquisite, each dish a testament to the culinary prowess of Mexico. It was an evening filled with laughter, good food, and an atmosphere of sheer joy.
In conclusion, this villa is not just a place to stay; it's a destination in itself. It's where luxury meets comfort and where every guest is made to feel special. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate our 40th birthdays. To anyone looking for a memorable getaway in Mexico, this villa is without a doubt a...
