Playa La Ropa is not a bad area to be in, as sections of Zihua go, but I would NOT choose this hotel. J.B. is overpriced for what you receive, which is not much -- a comfy bed, a clean pool, and a parking lot. J.B. is def no frills. The bathrooms, well, my bathroom...was god-awful; it resembled a bathroom at a truck stop...a small sink, a toilet, and a janky low-pressure shower, which for the first evening did not run hot water. (That had to fixed on the second day.) The hotel was mostly quiet during the day, but became progressively noisier as the evening wore on. In the early evening, it was the schmaltzy live music from the restaurant next door (I actually heard a heartfelt cover of "Let It Be" followed immediately by a heartfelt cover of "My Way". I'm not joking.) Later in the evening, it was the Australian doofus next door blaring episodes of SVU into the mid-night. (When he opened his door to hear my complaint, he's genuinely lucky I didn't punch him in the face.) Anyway, by the final night, I was...definitely ready to leave. A couple of recommendations for the hotel proprietors (if they read this): soundproof the rooms, renovate the bathrooms COMPLETELY, and put a fresh coat of paint on the interior walls. Doing these simple things will bring your place much...
Read moreThis was the 2nd time staying at Hotel JB. We originally booked 10 days but we're so happy here we decided to stay the remainder of our trip which was an extra 2 weeks. The best thing are the staff! So happy and always willing to help in any way. One young man that works at the desk is a very talented artist and we were the recipient of a few of his creations. |We felt very safe here...never a worry about things going missing..we dried clothing/shoes on our ground level patio. I believe there is a safe at front desk but we didn't use it.|We did use the communal kitchen ...had a family meal there together..everything worked...we did buy a wok for cooking.|Rooms are authentic mexico... beds a bit hard but we didn't mind....housekeeping g staff were great... shr even did our dishes (coffee cups etc) when we left them in the room....|Pool is very clean with a bit cooler temperature..which was very welcomed.|Short walk to Beach la ropa.|It's not super fancy..but very comfortable!|We will definitely book here again....feels like a home away from home...|Thank you to Juan and all the staff for a...
Read moreThe room is in a bad state of disrepair. They do NOT provide adequate amenities (no shampoo, no cups or glasses, no coffee, etc). The room is also not what I would call clean by any stretch. There was mold in the bathroom and dirt of the shelves. The bed is extremely hard and the pillow are cheap little foam one. They do have a water cooler at the front, but you need your own cups, glasses or bottles to get some. Not a place I would ever consider staying again. When we arrived we had to ask for towels and soap and were told they do not have coffee or shampoo. Although I asked in advance about a refrigerator there was none there on arrival. They did clean one up and put it in the room. After asking about the coffee they did put a small coffee maker after a day, but no coffee, filters or cups. There is a pool, but it is small and shallow. The pool is right outside the rooms so you cant open your curtains and you have to listen to people talking all day outside your room. The room stunk of bug spray for days after...
