Hacienda Alegria — Hotel in Jalisco

Mid-February 2023. My wife and I reveled in our daughter’s wedding week in Puerto Vallarta, then headed for La Manzanilla for a very relaxing stay. Our last visit to La Manz was in 2005 and this place is charming as ever. La Manz is surrounded by beautiful, quiet beaches, sunsets, great dining, friendly community, and plenty of beach activities: snorkeling, kayaking, SUP-ing, kitesurfing, whale and crocodile watching.

Hacienda Alegria took this sojourn to the next level. A well-appointed, beautiful home with pool and surrounding tropical garden overlooking La Manz and Bahia Tenacatita, we couldn’t have asked for more. Valentine’s Day evening included a Mariachi serenade that we listened to from the veranda. Other amenities included a great kitchen, Starlink internet, comfortable bedroom and bath, plenty of beach towels and toys, along with a washer and dryer. Brian, our host, is super easy to work with and quite knowledgeable about La Manz and the surrounding communities, making “restauranting”, shopping and banking so easy. I had a fantastic stay at Hacienda Alegria in La Manzanilla in January 2023. My interests are about enjoying the slow pace of a beach town on the sunny Pacific. Hacienda Alegria delivered! The village and beach is a short walk from the villa with surfing, fishing, beachwalking, and several great little beach restaurants to choose from. The sunsets are amazing and we made an effort to enjoy every one of them. All the amenities one would expect are provided in air conditioned rooms and kitchen, although when i was there in January we did not need the AC.

Brian, the owner provides mountain bikes for beach rides, yoga mats, boogie boards, and rock solid Starlink internet access if you BRIEFLY need to jump on a Zoom call during your stay. Large Hacienda with a layout perfect for groups or couples! Three levels all with kitchens and bedrooms. Lots of privacy and placed in the hills above town for beautiful vistas. Huge pool patio with multiple sitting areas and bar, perfect for gatherings. The rooftop is a full apartment but open patio for relaxing, watching the sunset, exercising, reading. The owner is very thoughtful with the best tips for accessing the property as well as enjoying the restaurants in the quaint little town. Easy drive to neighboring towns like San Patricia and Barra De Navidad. Felt very much at home and enjoyed the private floors very much. Very well appointed with furnishings and dishware.
