Traveling from the US with my family of 7 for the holidays, Casa Maguey (one of the 5 villas within Villas Maguey) was absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, you are blown away by the amazing views of the ocean. The living and dining room areas have floor to ceiling sliding doors that allow you to soak in the breeze during the day. At night, you can turn on the AC in the living room + 2 main bedrooms (no AC in the loft, but was not needed in December). We even saw whales breach right from the spacious balcony.
The beach is steps away (via a private entrance) and there are many local restaurants that kept us well fed during our stay (Pedros was our favorite). The villa also had adequate cooking materials if you wanted to cook at home (markets were 5 min walk). On the beach, there are other water activities, such as the banana boat ride, for purchase (all very reasonably priced).
Alex was a great host and was very responsive to all messages. He even connected us with taxi drivers so that we knew who was picking us up and driving us to the airport when we arrived/left (this was one of our priorities). Alex also provided us with a helpful listing of many local attractions/activities that we booked during our stay. I highly recommend the ecology tour.
The gated villa was very safe and also within walking distance to everything in town. Everyone in town is extremely friendly and welcoming. Some things in town that I would recommend include: Friday Market (open farmers market every Friday), Martins (restaurant within 500 feet of the villa - best Caesar salad in town), IMIX (beachside restaurant about 1/2 mile walk), Zazil Cafe (coffee spot on the beach), and Cafe del Mar (best breakfast in town, about 1/2 mile walk). There is plenty to do in La Manzanilla and Villas Maguey provides you with the opportunity to soak it all in. If you're looking for a chill day, it's very easy to escape and read on the balcony to relax.
Overall, you get a lot of value during your stay and my family and I had a memorable holiday vacation. Would highly recommend you visit Casa Maguey if you are looking to explore the...
Read moreWe stayed in the villa El Mar for 10 days in Nov 2023. Having seen the “old” property and now after fantastic renovations, it doesn’t disappoint! Absolutely stellar!
Our room had its own little “soaker” pool on the deck with a FABULOUS view of the ocean and beach!! My only “complaint” is the lil pool attracts many hermit crabs! Like I mean tooooo many that one wouldn’t want to join them in the pool!
The pool service was every other day & unfortunately that’s just not frequent enough…it should be daily while clients are renting the suite. Or change the pool to have chlorine in it, as I’m sure that would keep em out?!
Otherwise, our stay was amazing!! Alex, the rental representative was so friendly and kind....
Read morePurched on a cliff on the far end of a bay, it has spectacular views great WiFi and walking distance to many restaurants, and beautiful beaches. Nothing better than drinking margaritas, eating fish tacos and watching the world go by at "Pedro's by the sea". The local town is like stepping back into the 1950s. Very little access to ATMs that work with American cards, but there's a town within 30 minutes where you can get what you need. Of the rooms available we recommend Del Mar. Only negative is...
