The room at the hotel didn't have a window - that was not clear when I reserved the room, it was dark and stuffie. I asked the receptionist if I could have a room with a window, and she replied that it would cost me more, and if i wanted an update, I had to reach out to Expedia to cancel the reservation. For minimal change, it seems to me that it was a bureaucratic process--- to change the status of my room. Additionally, visits are not allowed by hotel's policies--- that was quite antiquated. I ended up checking out two hours later. The front desk told me that they could do the charge without reaching Expedia, but i declined politely because I had made up my mind to find another hotel. Read moreI reviewed an airbnb in Chapala the other day but it was nothing compared to this magnificent place. Chapala Plaza Hotel is a definite “must do” if you’re in Chapala or Ajijic. Our room reminded me of one of the historic hotels in Italy or France. The room came with Netflix, internet, Amazon Prime etc and the free breakfast was a wonderful combination of fresh fruit (papaya, cantelope), bacon and eggs, toast, fabulous coffee and more. You can eat in the beautiful outdoor courtyard or the inside restaurant. Its located right at the main intersection in Chapala, where all the shopping and beach activities are. Truly a...
