Honestly we are very disappointed with our stay here. We were really looking forward to it based on the pictures we saw of it: we called it our ‘Barbie-castle’. I originally booked a room with two beds, we got a free room-upgrade to a two-bedroom suite with three beds. When we arrived at 15:15 (check-in time is at 15:00) the hotel staf let us know that our room is not available because of problem with the rain. We booked a month in advance so I believe they could have send us an e-mail with this information. Instead of booking us another room he suggested us to go to another hotel; we had to ask ourself if there was another room available, which there was. The room however was not ready yet (even though check-in was at 15:00) so we had to wait. The man at the reception was very hard to understand, we could barely complain about our discomfort. He showed us our new one-(very small) bedroom, which we agreed to. After going to our room we decided we wanted to leave one day early, so we asked if we could change our duration and get a part of our money back, the answer was no, because he showed us our room before payment. However, please let me know how we should have noticed (1) the shower-door not functioning properly which left our room wet whenever we took a shower, (2) VERY BAD WiFi connection, (3) dirty towels and sheets when we arrived, (4) hearing our neighbors sleep because the walls are so thin we can even hear them snore, (5) the television not working. The only positive thing I can say about our stay is the airconditioning in our room. I also got an e-mail from booking.com that the hotel had let them know we did not check-in, I hope they can improve their...
Read moreBuyer Beware! I arrived at the hotel on 9th November for a 2 night stay to find the entire place covered in red tape notifying that services were suspended from 8 November. The guy on the lobby told us that the owner hadn't paid their taxes.... We were told to stay there that night and that we would be moved elsewhere the following morning. As instructed we went out for the day the following day, showed up at the new hotel to find they knew nothing about what was going on. After further enquiry at the back office we were told that they had our names on a list but the reservation was cancelled. We tried calling the hotel but got no answer. We then went back to the Lavanda to be told that they had spoken to the City Hall and everything was sorted out and we could stay our second night. They had taken our number in the morning, so I was pretty displeased that nobody bothered to call us and say so. I don't think this was the first time that service was suspended as there were older looking notices and faded tape around the building too.
These issues aside, I can see what they are trying to achieve and it WILL be a nice hotel once these teething problems are sorted out. The rooms are equipped with nice furnishings and comfortable beds. The finish isn't great, looks like the bathrooms still need the grouting tidied up, towel rails put up etc. Internet didn't seem to work in the room, although connected to the network. Room had TV, modern aircon, safe, table and chair, armchair and plenty of room.
Due to the suspension of services the restaurant, bar and pool were not open.
I wouldn't say don't ever stay here, but check the status...
Read moreWe had high expectations, the pictures showed a classy estate full of historical character. The reality is not at all the case. This hotel is well located within walking distance of the center and the rooms are quiet. The personnel is friendly despite having to navigate the poor management. This hotel is not well kept at all and the lack of care is evident throughout. It has potential but it is not exploited. The pool is filthy, over the three days we were there we saw the same bundle of hair laying at the bottom of the pool, detritus floating, trash not being swept along the edge. The room we were assigned was laid out like a cell with only a window to the inside courtyard which for privacy sake could not be left open. This hotel is definitely not for you if you are claustrophobic. The bathroom had no towel bar to dry them, we had to chase housekeeping to give us dry towels. No in room coffee machine either. I asked for a hairdryer, the one they brought me was not working and apparently this was the only one in the whole hotel. The sheets on the bed were rough and they didn’t have a fitted sheet, a few toss and turn and we were sleeping on the mattress. The shower head was a joke spraying in every direction...
