🕒 Horarios y entrada

Dirección: Calle 63 #506, Centro, Mérida, Yucatán.

Horario: Martes a sábado de 10:00 a 18:00 horas; domingos de 10:00 a 14:00 horas.

Entrada: Gratuita.

Museo Casa Montejo is a beautifully preserved slice of colonial history nestled in the heart of Mérida, Yucatán. Built in the 16th century by Spanish conquistador Francisco de Montejo, this mansion-turned-museum offers a rare glimpse into the opulence and architecture of the colonial era.

The façade alone is worth the visit—ornately carved in the Plateresque style, it’s a stunning example of Spanish colonial artistry. Inside, the museum is divided into historical and cultural exhibits. The historical rooms are furnished with period pieces that recreate the lifestyle of wealthy colonial families, while the gallery spaces often feature rotating exhibitions of...

First of all, this place has a long interesting history. That alone should be enough for you to visit. My favorite part the entire place was the incredibly detailed painted animal exhibit. This was awe inspiring! The remainder of the tour was a self guided journey through the house showcasing room after room of antiques. This is the area that I lost interest quickly.

I wish the staff had given better guidance and they could use some training on their customer service skills. I wouldn’t return but it was...

Beautifully preserved and ornate look at the history of the Montejo uprising. Free admission and self-guided tour through the Montejo house. Take time to notice the large mural off the dining room and ask someone about the story behind the Shield of Montejo and the leopard skinned guards above the door. Both Montejo and son are standing on the heads of Mayan men whom they overpowered and integrated Aztec blood with their uprising. Sad and haunted history.
