STOP! BEDBUGS!
I must express my dissatisfaction with this particular hostel and outline the reasons why. The cost of a week-long stay is 1,600 pesos, and a deposit fee of 300 pesos was additionally charged. Towels were unavailable, and the rooms were confined and lacked windows. The rooms that did possess windows, overlooked a disruptive highway. The lavatories were habitually filthy, and the showers lacked illumination. The soundproofing insulation was inadequate as the sound of the neighbor eating could be heard from the middle room. Regrettably, my undergarments and socks were purloined during a shower, alongside my room key. Upon informing the hostel hostess about this, I was informed a replacement key would cost 100 pesos, which unexpectedly rose to 150 pesos the following day, with an assumption that a percentage of the additional charge was taken as a gratuity. However, these minor grievances pale in comparison to the bedbugs that vigorously fed upon me each evening. I was confined to the hostel as I had already paid the fee for the duration of the week. Midway through the week, the hostel hostess eventually phoned a service which utilized chemicals to terminate the bedbugs. All tenants were required to leave the premises at 9 am for the duration of the procedure. When I returned to the hostel in the afternoon, I discovered my bedding on the floor as the bed had been overturned during the application of chemicals. Furthermore, my bedding was drenched and an insufferable smell lingered, which was undoubtedly detrimental to human health. In summary, this is the most substandard hostel I have encountered in my extensive travel history. In conclusion, I implore you to exercise caution and reconsider utilizing...
Read moreAVOID: Unsanitary, Unsafe, and Riddled with Roaches My stay at Hostal Ciudad de México was deeply disappointing and concerning, primarily due to the appalling lack of cleanliness and the management's failure to enforce its own policies.
The shared kitchen and bathroom facilities were consistently filthy. The kitchen, in particular, was a nightmare. It was visibly grimy, but the most disgusting part was the rampant cockroach infestation. It was impossible to prepare food without seeing them scuttling across the counters and near the cooking areas. It's a serious health hazard. The bathrooms were in a similar state of neglect. If you are absolutely forced to stay here, you must bring your own cleaning supplies to sanitize every surface before you use it.
Furthermore, the administration completely fails to enforce its no-smoking policy. The common areas constantly reeked of cigarette smoke, which seeped into the dorms. As someone sensitive to smoke, this was unbearable. If you have asthma, allergies, or any respiratory condition, I strongly urge you to find accommodation elsewhere. Your health is not worth the risk.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this hostel to anyone. The unsanitary conditions and the smoke-filled environment make it an unacceptable...
Read moreThe best thing about this place is the staff. They are very friendly, eager to help, they don’t speak English but they have google translator opened on the computer :) The location is great too, it’s 10-15 min walk from the historical center, and right next to the metro station. But, there’re a few buts. 1) Noise. If you happen to have a room with a window to the loud street, forget about having a good sleep. They should do something about those windows. It’s extremely noisy in the room with the windows shut. 2) Hot water. Don’t know about other people’s experiences but there was no hot water in my room for 3 days. I had it booked for longer, but left earlier that I was supposed to because of it. I guess if you’re a cold shower lover that won’t be an issue. 3) WiFi. Didn’t work in my room. 4) Lounge room. There’s none. Every floor looks like a hospital, long corridor with doors on each side. 5) It is overpriced considering what it has to offer. Specially if you are thinking to get a private room. You can get much better value in other hotels in the area...
