It's partly my fault because I thought this was the Casa del Virrey de Mendoza which is right in the heart of the zocalo. It's not. It's far from the center but there is a smaller cathedral that look very similar to the larger one in the center of Morelia.||The distance would have been totally fine if the hotel lived up to it's potential but it didn't.||The size and decor of the rooms were fine, and the staff was very nice, there was a funny smell the moment you walk in and it got stronger as you entered a bathroom. ||Our rooms had no air-conditioning so the smell and the stuffiness was nearly unbearable once we turned in for the night. ||We immediately noticed stains on the underside of the tatty comforters and we all ended up sleeping on top instead under our sheets. ||When we woke in the morning to shower neither bathrooms in our suite worked properly. One had brown water coming out of the spout and the drain was stopped up. The other bathroom had no hot water. We all ended up using the 1 working bathroom in the second room. The towels must have been washed and starched because they literally stood up on their own because the were so stiff and scratchy! ||On our way out, we encountered the free breakfast. It was instant decaf Nescafé (!!) and cold cereal. Thankfully they did have coffee bar attached to the hotel but we had to pay for that and it was...
Read moreThis hotel is in a very good location a few blocks from the cathedral. It is a newer hotel with newer attractively decorated rooms. The rooms are very dark and a small window faces to the interior of the hotel. It echoes voices and any kind of noise readily. Internet/Wifi does not work in the rooms. There are suites available for a small amount more and they have a living room area. Hot water is no problem. Breakfast is awful. Supposedly continental: Nescafe and a hot water, styrofoam cups, powdered coffee creamer, orange juice, frosted flakes and coco puffs.||||The staff is very helpful and will go out of its way to make you feel comfortable.||Parking is an issue. There are three spots in front of the hotel where you may park from 8 am to 5 pm. Then you have to move the car to a parking lot a block away.||||It's ok for a night or two. I would chose a different hotel next time particularly since there are others available at a much...
Read moreThis hotel is just terrible. There was no hot water...and the manager kept insisting there was nothing wrong with the system even though the water was cold. Same with the Wifi. He says, "nothing is wrong. reset your phone." Um, no, we tried that and it isn't my phone, it's your Wifi. You can hear everything in the hallways at all hours. Strangely more expensive than other comparable hotels in the area, plus paid an extra 50 pesos for parking, where most of the other hotels in the area include parking for free. Overall, if there is any shortcoming the managers take absolutely no responsibility, are rude and dismissive. Only stay here if you are super desperate for a cold shower and a loud place to rest. It is a shame because with just a few upgrades and better attitudes/management it could be cute. Alas, for now stay far far away. Many...
