Came here with my family for a nice stay before school started up. Almost immediately, the staff that "greeted" were by far the rudest I have encountered in any vacations I've taken in Mexico. The front desk woman preferred to spend her time on the phone and, quite literally, threw papers at us to sign before sending us away without so much as a 'hola' or 'adios'. Hospitality is nonexistent at this establishment. Upon arriving to our room, it was filthy, with rocks, dead bugs, and sand all over the floor. There were so many dead bugs in the patio's pool and the pool had not been cleaned or even filtered for some time. If you're booking a room here, make sure to book only on the lower level rooms-- the journey to the higher floors is not for the unseasoned hiker. My younger brother, who injured his knees at the beach and grew severely dehydrated, was forced to walk all the way up to our room in the hot 95 degree sun. When I asked the staff if he could be escorted up via one of their many golf carts, we were refused. When we went to the restaurant to eat, the waiters and staff ignored us and did not seat us, direct us, or even look at us. We had to ask for a table and then they seemed to remember how to work in the service industry. And for the cherry on top: the food wasn't fully cooked when it was served to us and was not worth the money spent on it. You'll find better in Acapulco or even some of the smaller areas surrounding the west coast. I can promise you, all the good reviews you see for this place were most likely done by Americans who didn't understand a lick of Spanish and thus, couldn't properly translate the complete lack of propriety the establishment was giving them. I have never felt the need to post a review for a place before and I don't mean to sound like a Karen, but I really don't want another innocent tourist wasting...
Read moreI came here to do nothing, and nothing was what I did - and it was great.
Knew that this was mostly going to be an older Canadian crowd, neither of which describe me, but that's OK. I wasn't really looking to socialize or party hard, and this place fit that bill nicely. I only did the 'breakfast included' package and it was fine. The food was nothing special, but who cares - I had my own personal pool. I went to the Super Che grocery store, stocked up on some food and refreshments, and that kept me pretty good for the week. I also ventured out nightly to Tangolunda and La Crucecita, the former being walkable and the latter being a $2-3USD cab ride. Ate at some random places in La Crucecita, five or six blocks from the taxi stand near the town center - inexpensive, solid food! Everyone was quite friendly and I never felt unsafe.
So, my daily routine usually involved me getting up for breakfast around 9-10AM, and sitting at my personal pool until 3 or 4PM, grabbing a nap, and then heading out to eat off the resort. I also spent a few hours down by the main pool, which was awesome as well. All-in-all, a very relaxing, hassle-free vacation. My room was close to the check-in, so I generally had Wi-fi, but Telcel's coverage was also satisfactory (3G and 4G) - and Verizon's international plan allows for 500MB of 4G which, on my stress-free vacation, I rarely used.
Only headache was having to connect through Mexico City on Volaris. That airport is an adventure. I also feel like conversational Spanish would have served me well both in Mexico City and Oaxaca, but I managed without.

Read moreI really never take the time to make reviews but unfortunatelly staff does nothing to solve any issue.
Here are all my complains and hope it helps on your next holidays desition.
Internet is terrible. Sometimes you have good speed other days you get nothing. If you plan to get some job tasks during your holidays you will have to drive or take a taxi outside for a better connection.
You may expect a constant lack of towels in the pool so you have to use room towels to dry yourself and use the same ones once you get a shower at your room.
At the gym if you are lucky you get face towels if not go back to same issue as point No.2 (this was the minor of all the issues).
There is a nice frigo at the room. But it was broken, they took 2 days to get someone to check it. It was two days of constant reports and asking for a technician to review it, with no answer.
Breakfast. It was a buffet, but you must get very early if not, things start to run out and your buffet starts to look more as an American Breakfast (coffee and bread).
During and after so many issues I requested to speak with the manager who is a very busy person. So I left my phone to discuss all these bad feelings. However he/she never called back. This only shows the lack of attention you will get from top to bottom by the staff.
For the price VS service I would think twice in coming back or...
