Teodoro restaurant dining experience at ‘impression Moxche by secrets’ in Mexico. I was super nervous about what would appear in front of me as I promised to be brave and try everything, but I discovered that I loved trying new things. And the whole experience was a journey! Loved it! #finedining #teodoro #impressionmoxche #mexico #food #secretsmoxche

We spent 6 nights on the Impression side. This resort is gorgeous. It is stunning from the moment you walk into it. With traffic, it's about 45 minutes from the airport. Check In: we were handed a glass of sparkling wine, dropped our luggage off, then walked towards the Impression building. We got a drink while the concierge took our passports and made copies. The concierge led us to our room where we signed some paperwork. That was it. That was the easiest and fastest check in I have ever had. The room was beautiful. The bed was a little hard and squeaky. One of our butlers, Mariela, met us in our room. She then said we'd have another butler, Maili, for the evening shifts. She got our information and set up a group chat on Whatsapp so we could communicate with them. As soon as we exchanged info, we headed to the pools. We were at the pool within 30 minutes of walking in the entrance. Pools: there were so many pools here that we didn't even visit them all. We hopped in the main pool first and sat at the swim up bar. The water was so warm, it felt like bathwater. I think this is mostly due to the sun heating up the dark tile. This pool was the busiest. It also needed to be cleaned. The water was very cloudy and dirty. We got out of this pool and went to the other pool with the swim up bar. This pool was a bit cooler and definitely cleaner. Pedro was the bartender and he did a great job. The next day, we spent the day at the Impression rooftop pools by Cielo. These were definitely quieter. They had some games, like Cornhole, that you could play. Our drink was always full when we were in the pool. The cabanas get filled up quickly. The next day, we went to the Impression main pool. There wasn't very much shade, so the pool attendant/towel person, Nicolas, took us to the pool next to Seaside. There were plenty of loungers with umbrellas available. Out of the 6 cabanas here, only 2 were occupied. Nicolas set us up with a cabana. Oscar took care of us after Nicolas went back upstairs. He did a great job of making sure we were taken care of. We spent the majority of our time at this pool. It was cooler than the others, but it did heat up later in the day. The preferred club rooftop pool had great views of the resort. Poolside service was slow, so we ordered directly from the bar. This pool was very warm as well. Food: The first night we ordered room service. The hamburger was good. We also ordered room service for breakfast one day. The churros were ok. They were kind of hard by the time we got our meal. The French Toast was very good. The fried eggs and chocolate crepes were pretty good. Since we stayed more than 5 nights on the Impression side, we were able to eat at Teodoro for free. This food was fabulous I tried everything. The presentation was spectacular as well. This was about a 2 hour experience, and I highly recommend doing it. Seaside had a great breakfast. The French toast was delicious, the steak and fried eggs were good as well. You also get a fresh quesadilla to start. While in our pool cabana, we ordered a wrap and a burger and some empanadas. It was all really good. Allora: we ate fettuccine and pizza. Both were delicious. Bamboo: we had fried tofu, fried dumplings, samosas, chicken satay, pad Thai, and gulab jamun. The tofu was a small portion, but not bad. The fried dumplings were cold. The samosas were very good. The chicken satay was cold. The pad Thai was delicious. The gulab jamun was decent. Ember: the steak was delicious. The shrimp still had part of the shell, and when you took the shell off, it lost some of that good flavor. We had cheesecake and baked Alaska for dessert. Both were delicious. The taco truck was to die for! The shows each night were fantastic. The sports bar needs more seats. Overall the property is gorgeous. I highly recommend staying at this resort on the Impression side. We were always greeted with our names. They definitely went the extra mile to make us feel welcome here. Besides the main pool cleanliness, they need a bigger whiskey and bourbon selection.

First impressions: |I stayed at impressions moxche for 7 nights in January. I must say I was very impressed with the hotel. The entire property is just stunning. The service is great, the rooms are modern, the food is the best I’ve ever had at an all inclusive, and maybe even generally on holiday. There are more pools than you count throughout the property with 3 pools solely for impressions guests. Overall, even with the good quality food and drinks I don’t believe this hotel is worth the price it charges, with as many issues as we faced, hence the 4 stars. ||Restaurants:|The two main impressions only restaurants are Cielo and Seaside. Unfortunately Cielo was closed for dinner our entire stay. They did have a Cielo menu being served at seaside for 3/4 nights which was not great. ||There is also Teodoro which is free for impressions guests once for every 5 nights. Amazing fine dining food with the origins and story explained in detail. ||Standout restaurants were definitely Cielo for lunch, seaside for breakfast and Teodoro for dinner. The steak we had for Cielo’s dinner was awful and we could not finish it. The best steak we had on the property was the rib eye from Ember. Bisou was beautiful but the food was awful. Suki was decent food, not the best but good for all inclusive. There is a limited number of roast ducks available daily free for impressions guests (minimum 4 guests) which we were told was finished for the evening but saw the table next to us receive it.||The taco and crepe stands are incredible and open till late (tacos were open till 1am, crepes only until around 10pm but most fruit is finished by 8/9pm). We did not try anything from coco cafe but they have a few sandwhich options available 24/7. The brunch at SeaSoul has limited options but is a lovely ambience so would recommend. The fire bbq at seaside is beautiful with an amazing ambience but small quantities of food and a set menu. Roads through Mexico was a beautiful showcase of Mexican culture although there were not many food stands (maybe 4/5). Seaside’s regular dinner has good options with a delicious lobster main. ||Service:|Service at all restaurants is decent with Teodoro being faultless, Cielo being decent at lunch, and Seaside being incredibly slow at all times (I was waiting for 30 minutes one morning to be seated). The other Secrets restaurants have decent service. ||The staff really go above and beyond to cater to your requests and concerns. Our butlers Cesar and Christian were great, and they also had a trainee butler with them who helped me pack my suitcase efficiently. ||The butlers can help with unpacking, packing, reservations, running baths etc. one of the nights we came back to birthday decoration in the room which was a lovely touch for my partner. They are supposed to send you activities and information on what’s happening each day which I found to be inconsistent. I would have appreciated this every night for the following day so we could plan accordingly. Instead we would be sent them in the morning at 9am which means we would have already missed a few of the activities! Also the activities sent on WhatsApp don’t seem to always be accurate e.g. I visited the water sports centre 3 days in a row as my schedule sent to me by my butlers said there would be kayaking but everytime I went I was told it had been cancelled that day. ||It can be odd to have interchanging butlers due to their shifts. It would also be amazing if they extended their butler service to be 24/7 as the change of shift can mean some requests are not fulfilled/lost. I had requested a bottle of the hotel’s green habanero sauce (the nicest spicy sauce I have ever tried) on our last evening but didn’t hear anything after this. An hour before we were due to leave I asked in our WhatsApp chat and was told my butler hadn’t started his shift. He did not update me on my request before the end of his shift. ||There is complimentary laundry available for 3 items per person per stay and so we had only 6 items clearly marked on the form as of which ones should be ironed vs folded etc. they managed to mess this up but when I complained they had it fixed within the hour. ||I would say most staff are friendly and are genuinely happy to help. We had an amazing bartender at Seaside, Frederico.||Room:|The room is beautiful with modern decor and lots of high end amenities. However, we did have a lot of issues in the room. Our amenities were not restocked daily properly (some things would be restocked and others not), so we had to manually request most amenities. Our AC was leaking which I complained about the first day. It was “fixed” but continued to leak so they tried to repair it a few times throughout our stay. We also found the AC was too hot and just wouldn’t go below 24 degrees Celsius, which got very hot at night! They did fix this on our last day. We also found a cockroach in the cupboard !!!! They did send pest control to fix this. ||We also complained about our bedside tables not being cleaned (many glass stains on arrival), the toilet being blocked, blood being found on our bedsheets, and bedside light not working. We also had a very foul smell, particularly around the bed which smelt like sewage. We complained about this and were offered another room (same tier) because of all the issues we had on our 5th night but we declined as we did not want to repack and unpack again due to having so much stuff. ||I do think because of all the issues we had, we should have been offered a better room such as an ocean front suite especially as we spent 5 nights of our experience in a malfunctioning room. My partner was not impressed at all and thought the room really tarnished his experience. I would probably return with friends (as my partner would not) but would definitely Hope and expect the rooms are better and a few other issues I mentioned...

We just got back from a 6 day trip to Impressions Moxché by Secrets. We have traveled to quite a few different resorts in Mexico and chose this resort for its 5 diamond rating (which is the top rating a Mexican resort can obtain). ||The good: The resort itself was beautiful. The interiors are decorated with such elevated taste. It’s all beautiful carved wood and concrete. A mix of modern and organic. You really do feel like you are in a very luxurious and updated resort. It’s probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing hotels we have stayed at-and we have stayed at some nice places (le blanc, hotel moussai, grand velas, Garza Blanca-to compare). ||We had 2 butlers attend to us and they were wonderful. Raphael and Mariela really made our stay feel extra special. They were available night and day and were just so pleasant and helpful. ||The grounds are huge and there is a pool for everyone. Many other places have a “main” pool with everything else around it feeling like an afterthought. Not here, I think there are 11 pools and they are all equally beautiful in different ways. Different vibe in different spots. I loved that you can have a different experience depending on how you are feeling that day. ||The spa: Again, the architecture and design of the spa was just perfect. It was beautiful, natural and serene. The hydrotherapy and sauna area was co-Ed so it was great to be able to experience that as a couple. We each had two services. The 80min deep tissue and relaxation massages. We enjoyed both massages. They were good but not spectacular. ||Premium experiences: Teodoro is a 5 star restaurant that is a fine dining experience. It was what fine dining typically is. Beautifully presented food, but very little of it. The taste was mediocre but we enjoyed the experience for what it was. Just don’t expect to be full afterwards. ||Teppanyaki: not worth it. The best part was that we had a reservation so we didn’t have to wait for a table. The food was salty, not particularly tasty. I’d skip this one, if you have had good Teppan before you won’t be wow’ed by this experience.||Tanoshii 12 course omakase: Hands down the best meal we had all week. Amazing sushi chef-Yazmin. She was so passionate about the food and her passion translated to the taste and presentation. Great conversation with our waiter, Axel. Made for a fun dinner.||Taco experience: unless they overhaul the whole thing, DO NOT DO THIS ONE. It was beyond terrible. The tacos that are described in the advertisement are not served. The drinks they mention are not served. We love tacos but they tried to “elevate” the experience too much by doing weird stuff like putting kimchi on a lobster taco from Ensenada, or using lettuce instead of a tortilla. My husband is from Mexico and thought the entire experience was blasphemous!||The “bad:”. Not a ton to complain about (other than those awful tacos). A few weird things I noticed…there are two rooftop pools with Infinity pools. Typically at the ledge of an infinity pool there is a small catch at the bottom that catches the water that spills over, but beyond that you can look out into the water, or whatever the view is. With both infinity pools, however, they built a rooftop that juts out from the infinity pool ledge so that when you swim up to the edge, you are looking at the top of an ugly, dirty roof. It’s the weirdest detail that they didn’t tend to given the fact that the most of the hotel is just so well done. ||The other small thing I noticed is that the elevators are really really ugly-and again I only point it out because the rest of the hotel is so beautiful and is a 5 diamond. They almost look like service elevators and stick out like a sore thumb. ||We were there during the rainy season so it was quite humid and because of that the mosquitos were out in full force. The pharmacy had run out of bug spray, which I can’t understand why they wouldn’t restock it from a nearby store. They provided us with citronella spray but we really needed something with DEET. The fear of getting eaten alive actually took away from the experience, and while the hotel can’t control the presence of mosquitos, they should do more to help the guests protect themselves. ||This hotel is not inexpensive. When one spends this type of money, there should not be a long wait for dinner. They need to come up with a reservation system because they were not able to handle all of the patrons at dinner. After our dinner at Teodoro we wanted to try the steak house but we were told it was a 2 hour wait. We saw other people waiting for hours to wait to eat at other restaurants as well. ||Drinks are mediocre. The presentation was nothing special. The alcohol is definitely diluted because I cannot usually drink 3 drinks before feeling them, but there, I could have 4-5.||Overall it is a nice hotel. I do think there is room for improvement. We were sad to leave and will be trying the other impressions property...
