LONG STORY SHORT * if you got 900 USD to spend on an all inclusive resort.. go somewhere else!!!* I really wanted to like this hotel because the people who work there are so kind. Unfortunately, for the money I spent service alone is not enough. We booked a stay for 3 nights in a private bungalow that had a beach view and a hot tub for over 800 USD. Upon arrival we tried to use the hot tub but sadly the water was freezing cold. When I went to the front desk they claimed it was not a hot tub rather a pool with jets… which would be OK if it was advertised as so. However, the biggest reason we chose this hotel rather than another is because we were under the impression we had a private HOT tub not cold swimming pool. Luckily they were able to provide us with hot water after my complaint which in all instances is confusing since it should’ve already been provided. Not to mention on the second day of our stay the warm water was turning brown! For all inclusive you have a limited menu to choose from.. so there is not buffet. However if was not the end of the world granted the food was still pretty good. That being said, only a handful of servers work there granting us with very slow service. The alcohol situation was not ideal whatsoever. You can’t get bottled beer, your choice of toquilla ( I only list these because we gave up on drinks and ended up purchasing our own bottle ) and when watching them make mixed drinks they only put a little drop of alcohol inside. For a vacation it was a bit disappointing. On top of this, the hotel did not take ANY measures to clean the shoreline of the massive amounts of seaweed. Thought the presence seaweed is not their fault, a resort a few buildings down have people working to clear seaweed from sunrise! and throughout the day. So it should be known that something can be done. Anyways, to make a long story short it was JUST fine. However, when I am spending near 900 USD for a three night all inclusive stay, I do...
Read moreNothing but a nightmare. Our first room had windows that didn’t close, had no screens, and a bathroom sink with one functional knob. We brought it to the attention of the front desk clerk (Ricardo - the ONLY redeeming quality of this dump) and he quickly gave us a new room. At first glance it seemed okay, but we quickly realized the air conditioner smelled like mildew, the shower never fully turned off, and the toilet seat was literally not attached to the toilet itself. We went back down to let Ricardo know we’d be looking for reservations elsewhere, he totally understood and even offered recommendations. When we couldn’t find anything else, he offered us the last room he had - the master suite. It was far from perfect but better than nothing, so we agreed we’d make the best of it and give it a try. The first thing we noticed was an overwhelming chemical smell coming from the bathroom, but we opened the patio doors and aired it out, only to later figure out that the chemical smell was intended to cover up the even more overwhelming smell of sewage that constantly emanated from the toilet. The high ceilings were covered in burlap to keep the roof thatching from falling to the floor/on the bed, etc., but it couldn’t keep the bugs from joining us, or the rain pouring down the walls during a storm on day 2 of our stay. The best part, however, was when the to the entire hotel water was turned off around 4pm for “two hours” without warning. It is now almost 11pm and there is still no water, so we’ve been using rain water from the jacuzzi to flush the toilet, and bottled water to wash our hands.
Everything else seems like small details at this point, but is all still relevant and worth mentioning. The jacuzzis fill with brown, rusty water, the restaurant takes forever to serve bland, subpar food, the beach is tiny, rocky, and dirty, and there are no basic amenities, like even a phone to call the front desk. Do yourself a favor and stay literally...
Read moreLe Reve has an advantageous location and may have been a great place. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. The description and photos on the website are outdated, and the property is clearly neglected by management and/or owners. I selected a beachfront private pool villa for our stay and it seems to have been one of the "better" rooms. The place is falling apart and not properly maintained. We experienced power outages for at least one-third of our stay, no water for a significant portion of two days, and no hot water from the evening prior to our checkout until we left at noon. There is no maintenance crew, and the front desk associate had no tools to try and fix a broken pipe. The furniture and fixtures are old, some are broken or missing, and the beach chairs and lounges are beaten up with no umbrellas. The pipes are rusty, light bulbs are missing, and the mattresses are hard. The bedding and towels are old, stained, smelly, and have holes. The rooms are only half cleaned, and none of the common areas were cleaned during our three-night stay. The few employees who showed any care did their best with what they had, including Arturo, Javier, Alvaro, and Beth. Unfortunately, we did not see any management during our stay. We hope that this review will serve as a warning to others considering this property. The issues we experienced are not isolated, as other recent reviews have referenced the same problems and the hotel’s responses not followed with actions. This hotel should should be closed...
