MM Grand is a beautiful hotel if you don't look too closely, and an amazing value if details aren't paramount for you. The staff gets extra credit for trying hard and being positive. ||The hotel is 93 rooms, all in pink and green, surrounding a garden courtyard about 3 miles from the center of Colonial Puebla. Puebla has a nifty articulated bus system with dedicated stations and lanes, and the Las Animas station is just two blocks from hotel--fare with transfer is about $0.50US a ride. Great way to get downtown, or Avenida Juarez restaurants cheaply. Runs until about 11p. Otherwise, take Uber, $5-7US. ||Room was very clean, but hotel skimps on details in room. Closet short on hangers, bathroom scant on towels. Room had 11 blue willowish/azul talavera urns and vases--all glued down--but no hair dryer. No paper of any kind in room, no menus or notepads, no pens. All kinda had the whiff of a going-out-of-business sale. ||That and some deferred maintenance issues suggests that Hilton isn't watching closely. Every piece of chrome in bath--shower hinges, showerhead, toilet paper rack--was corroded. Tablecloths in restaurant had holes, chairs were scuffed. ||Noise from a youth soccer group had front desk move my room (originally a Grand Deluxe) halfway through stay, now into a Governor's Suite. (As an HHonors Gold member, should have been upgraded from check-in, another lapse). Quite liked those accommodations' layout, recommend the $20-25 per night difference if available to you at booking. Both Grand Deluxe and Governor's Suite have soaking tubs in bath, very nice (but no shampoo nearby, given bottles stuck to shower walls--more austerity). ||Ate in restaurant for breakfast daily. Was popular with well-healed locals for baby showers and birthday breakfasts. Menu and buffet. HHonors Gold afforded an American breakfast with buffet an upcharge. Fine for free, wouldn't choose if I were paying. Staff very eager, friendly, if sometimes efficient. ||With rates about $60US for a Grand Deluxe room, or $85US for a Governor's Suite, per night, MM Grand isn't a terrible choice for Hilton HHonors members. I prefer a more central location in Puebla, but hotel is near a lot of shopping, even a good lavanderia a few blocks away for longer stays (again, no laundry bags and presumably no laundry service available). ||I just wish Hilton would pay closer attention to the upkeep and condition of...

Read moreHilton Diamond traveler; My partner and I stayed for a week long leisure trip in the Governor Suite. The property is away from the Main Street which made for a enjoyable quiet stay without road noises. The check-in process was smooth by friendly and welcoming agents. Now the governor suite was very beautiful, boasting a spacious and traditional style ambiance. The suite was very clean and welcoming. Really enjoyed the living room area to relax and unwind after a day of exploring. The bathroom also very spacious with a beautiful tub. However the shower was unexpectedly smaller with a odd door but still effective. Housekeeping was wonderful in keeping my room refreshed daily which made for a wonderful stay in the suite.
I did visit the restaurant for breakfast which is Included with Diamond status. The food options were a mix of traditional Mexican dishes also Including an “American breakfast” which was tasty. However -1 star for the restaurant service. On my first day I didn’t have a pleasant experience ( lack of service to our table while bigger tables were well attended, After our food was dropped off we were never attended to.) which I expressed, the second day it was Improved however not entirely the service I expected to have at this beautiful property. So we decided we wouldn’t join for breakfast the remainder of my stay which was unfortunate.
Our last night we thought we’d visit for dinner as it was most convenient, I was met with the same experience as breakfast. Unwelcoming host which insisted I sit at the 2 person table she offered with a loud tv above, ignoring my request for a different table, with many open tables. (I do speak Spanish fluently, so wasn’t a language barrier) then to wait for a never arrived server. We got up and went into the downtown and has a wonderful dinner at Sonora Grill.
Overall the hotel stay was very enjoyable which would certainly bring me back in the future. But I needed to be honest with my restaurant experience which is also a big part of the overall hotel...
