We loved the property and the serene atmosphere! Etéreo is a stunning resort with kind, welcoming staff. They partner with St. Regis and Edition and offer transportation between them, which makes exploring and dining easy. After visiting all three, I found Etéreo’s setting to be the most intimate and beautiful, and it seemed to preserve nature the best. Our top floor ocean view room had an incredible open water view, and staff greeted us warmly everywhere.

Dining: Itzam was outstanding—comparable or better than the tasting menu at Ki’Is. Fresh tortillas are made as you enter, and dinner standouts include the catch of the day and churros. Breakfast dishes like croissant, yogurt, taco de papa, and the fruit platter were also great. Highly recommend!

Beach/poolside dining was solid—especially the nachos and creamy lobster taco. Pool staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.

Che Che was just okay. There were a lot of bees, flies, and tiny bugs swarming and touching the food, which made dining uncomfortable. It would be helpful if the hotel added natural insect-repellent candles or similar solutions at Che Che. The hibachi itself was fresh and flavorful, but the “miso-glazed” catch of the day tasted more like a burnt red glaze with little miso flavor. As an Asian guest, I’d love to see some Japanese sides—like tsukemono, teriyaki-glazed nori, mentaiko— to complement the dishes.

Thoughtful touches: We appreciated the complimentary popsicles, free water bottles at the gym & room, little gifts left by housekeeping to take home, and the early to-go breakfast arranged (even before the restaurant opened!) before our excursion. Our Amex Platinum room upgrade benefit and late checkout were also honored. These gestures made a huge difference, showed care, and made our stay truly special.

Fees to watch for: A 16% service fee is added to all bills (split amongst staff), and room service adds the 16% service charge + 18% auto gratuity + delivery fee—nearly 40% extra before tax. These fees aren’t clearly disclosed up front, so they can add up and are worth noting. Still, I’d recommend bringing extra cash to tip staff directly (bellmen/cart drivers, server, pool staff, housekeeping) in person—they are so friendly and work so hard in the sun to make sure guests have a pleasant time. They totally deserve it.

Recommendation for management: Private excursions (ruins, cenote, snorkeling) were amazing but are on the high end ($1,200–$1,600 + tip for guide and driver). We did one private excursion and loved it. However, we would love to see more complimentary or small group options on top of the private ones—especially within the hotel or across the 3 resorts. Jet skiing isn’t allowed at Etéreo to protect the ecosystem (a good thing), but other nearby resorts offer it. Snorkeling is ~$100/person- other than this, moderately priced beach activity options are limited. Some wellness classes like yoga or mat Pilates are offered ($50/person) on certain days, but more frequent or free ones would be great. Other luxury brands like Ritz-Carlton Reserve or Four Seasons typically include complimentary activities, and I imagine many Etéreo guests have also stayed at those properties around the world and come to expect similar offerings.

Overall: Wonderful resort, beautiful setting, great service. Would definitely recommend and hope to return. Thank you...

We just returned for a last-minute 6-night vacation to Etéreo, and it was incredible. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by our Guia, Itzel, followed by the Shaman, I knew we had picked the right place.||||If you have the pleasure of Itzel being your Guia, you are in great hands. She ensured all the details were taken care of for us and checked on us multiple times each day. Truly appreciate her.||||If you're worried about the sargassum, they have a net, which helps prevent the build-up on the beach unlike other properties in the area. Beyond that, the grounds crew does an incredible job keeping the beach and property clean.||||The food was spectacular. I HIGHLY recommend doing the Tacology dinner and Abuela dinner. We recommend the wine pairing with the Tacology dinner. The Somm did an awesome job matching the food and wine. When they tell you there will be a lot of food at the Abuela dinner, believe them. It was so much.||||I'm not sure how we're going to eat tacos back in the states because every single taco I had at Etéreo, whether in the Tacology dinner, or simply off the menu was 10:10.||||All the service staff are great, but I have to specifically mention Sandra. She was our server for Tacology and we loved her so much, we asked for her with the Abuela dinner too. Joy exudes from her. She has infectious energy, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her guests having a great dining experience. She also introduced us to a new Mexican wine that we now love. Miss you, Sandra!||||The hotel wellbeing activities with sound baths, meditations, yoga etc, were all wonderful, and the gym was well equipped. We also did the spiritual jewelry session and having a bracelet to wear as a reminder of our stay at Etéreo is truly special.||||The Spa. Wow. We did the Pure Soul experience, and our therapists were Jael and Mariel. My husband had Jael, and I had Mariel and wow. We both left there saying this was by far the best spa experience of our life, and we have done a lot of spa's including one at Park Hyatt Maldives, which I thought couldn't be beat. I was wrong.||||This was a last minute, desperately needed vacation, and we could not have picked a better hotel. I cannot wait to book our next trip back and want to say thank you to the entire staff for making our stay magical.||||Shout-out to Laura, the GM, who is clearly doing a great job and has a team that loves working for her.||||Laura asked for any recommendations on where to improve or enhance, and the only things I can think of are:||||1. CheChe - the dinner menu felt like it was lacking options just a bit. We ended up only going there for dinner one time because we struggled landing on what to eat, and we're not picky people (hubby just has a shellfish allergy and I am intolerant to rice, sad I know). The quality of what we got was good, but the dinner menu just needs a bit more options in my opinion. Lunch was great.||||2. You could consider adding a couple of swings at the waters edge or perhaps a couple of hammocks, but this is more for IG/TikToks then anything. LOL. Although swinging with the water is always fun.||||In summary, if you're looking for a place that feels like it's reinvigorating your mind, body, and soul, look no further.||||Until next time, Etéreo team! Thank you for...
